BREAKING: ‘There’s Zero Tolerance For Such Behaviour’ – Warriors Fan Fined $17,000 for Telling Stephen Curry to “Go Die” During Game 6 Loss to Rockets

In a disturbing incident that has sparked widespread outrage and prompted swift disciplinary action, a Golden State Warriors fan has been fined $17,000 after shouting an abusive and threatening remark at superstar Stephen Curry during Game 6 of the Western Conference First Round against the Houston Rockets.

The incident occurred in the second half of the tightly contested game at the Chase Center, where emotions were running high as the Warriors eventually fell to the Rockets 113-108, ending their season. Multiple witnesses and video footage confirmed that the fan, seated near the court, shouted, “Go die, Curry!” after a missed three-point attempt late in the third quarter.

Security personnel swiftly identified the individual, who was removed from the arena before the fourth quarter began. The NBA and the Warriors organization conducted an immediate investigation and confirmed the fan has been issued a $17,000 fine, a lifetime ban from Chase Center, and will face potential civil penalties under California’s public harassment and disorderly conduct laws.

Warriors President Brandon Schneider addressed the incident in a postgame statement:

“There is zero tolerance for abusive or threatening behavior toward our players, staff, or any individual inside Chase Center. What was said to Stephen was vile, unacceptable, and completely contrary to the values of this organization and the NBA.”

Stephen Curry, known for his professionalism and composure, did not directly address the remark during his postgame availability but emphasized the importance of protecting players from hostility that crosses the line.

“Fans are passionate — we get that. But there’s a difference between cheering and saying something that’s just not human. I’m grateful for the support we receive, but I hope people remember we’re people too,” Curry said.

The NBA Players Association also weighed in, calling the fan’s actions “dangerous and dehumanizing,” and praised the league and Warriors for their swift response.

The incident adds to a growing concern around fan behavior in high-stakes games. While the NBA encourages loud and energetic atmospheres, there is an increasing effort to crack down on personal attacks and threats against players — especially when they cross ethical and legal boundaries.

As the league continues to emphasize player safety and respectful environments, this fine serves as a warning that such conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
