Taylor Bashes Brooke’s Romances—But Wasn’t She After Ridge, Thorne, and Eric Too?

Taylor Hayes stood in the impeccably decorated living room, her voice rising with a self-righteous air as she confronted Ridge Forrester. “Really, Ridge? Don’t you ever wonder if it’s… unhealthy for Brooke to have bounced from you, to Eric, to Thorne, to Nick, and back again? Maybe it’s time to question her loyalties,” she said, arms folded, lips pursed.

But for anyone with a functional memory—and most especially for Ridge—Taylor’s accusations sounded more than a little hypocritical.

Ridge suppressed a smirk. It would be comical, if it weren’t so awkward. After all, it wasn’t so long ago that Taylor herself was swept away in a whirlwind of Forresters. Hadn’t she accepted Thorne’s marriage proposals—yes, plural—enthusiastically, only for fate to intervene and the wedding to fall apart? As for Eric, Taylor had certainly tried her hand at winning his affection, but his days of “I do’s” seemed over after Stephanie passed. That is, until he changed his mind and married Quinn…and then Donna. If Eric saw Taylor as “marriage material,” he had a funny way of showing it.

Taylor, meanwhile, continued her impassioned speech, turning a blind eye to her own romantic history. She seemed blissfully unaware—as if she’d erased from her mind every passionate “yes” she gave to Thorne, every lingering look at Eric, every close call with Nick, and, of course, all her shared history with Ridge himself.

Ridge, torn between laughter and disbelief, finally interrupted. “Taylor, I’m not sure you realize, but you’ve been with almost everyone you’re listing off right now! If Brooke is unhealthy, what does that make…?” He trailed off, the sparkle in his eye betraying his amusement.

Taylor blushed, waving her hand in the air. “It’s not the same, Ridge. I was searching for true love!”

“Sure,” Ridge replied, grinning. “And you found it, what—half a dozen times?”

The room erupted in nervous laughter. In the bold, beautiful, and truly ironic world of the Forresters, the search for love was never simple—and pointing fingers just meant exposing your own tangled web.

Taylor’s lecture on Brooke’s so-called unhealthy patterns fizzled out as she realized the truth: in this family, everyone had shared their fair share of exes. And, apparently, their fair share of double standards.

In the Forresters’ world, it seems the only thing more recycled than their wedding rings are the excuses for why their tangled love lives don’t count—except, of course, when it’s someone else.
