Jesse Plemons appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss his upcoming film Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and co-starring Emma Stone. The film releases in select theaters on October 24 and nationwide on October 31.

During the interview, Jesse shared a sweet message from his grandmother, who runs an antique shop in Texas called The Ivy Cottage. He joked that she keeps a small “shrine” of him — including photos from his early acting days — right by the cash register.

Plemons also talked about his family with wife Kirsten Dunst, noting that their two young sons aren’t very impressed by their parents’ work, even though one of them is obsessed with Spider-Man. He recalled how Kirsten gave him advice on brushing long hair for his Bugonia role, since he didn’t wash it often while filming.

He described working again with director Yorgos Lanthimos (after Kinds of Kindness), saying it now feels like a “weird but cozy family” with the recurring cast and crew. Jesse praised his young co-star Aiden Delbis, calling him a revelation and remarkably confident for his age.

The conversation turned lighthearted as Plemons revealed that, as a Texas kid, he once competed in goat hair pulling contests at local rodeos — where children race on horseback, jump off, and have to pluck a strand of goat hair to win.

The interview closed with Plemons reflecting on playing a conspiracy theorist in Bugonia, explaining how he found empathy for a character who believes he’s saving humanity, even if his actions are misguided.
