Elon Musk Reacts After Billie Eilish Calls Him “Pathetic”

Elon Musk is firing back after Billie Eilish openly criticized him on social media. Days after the Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer posted Instagram Stories calling the Tesla and SpaceX CEO “pathetic” and a “coward,” Musk dismissed her comments with a blunt response on X. “She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed,” he wrote, replying to an account that had shared her posts.

Eilish’s criticism came after My Voice, My Choice published a series of slides highlighting what Musk could do with his wealth if he becomes the world’s first trillionaire — a milestone he may reach after winning a shareholder vote that could significantly boost his Tesla stock value. Among the suggested actions were ending world hunger, saving endangered species, and rebuilding Gaza. Eilish reposted the slides and added her own message on a black background: “Pathetic coward.”

This isn’t the first time the singer has publicly commented on extreme wealth. Just last month, while accepting the Music Innovator Award at the Wall Street Journal Magazine Innovator Awards, Eilish urged billionaires to use their money for good. She noted that the world is in a “really bad and dark” place and emphasized the need for empathy and action. During her speech, she also revealed she had given away more than $11 million from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour profits — and pointedly questioned the purpose of maintaining billionaire-level wealth. Mark Zuckerberg, who was reportedly in the room, did not clap during her remarks.

As of November 19th, Forbes ranks Zuckerberg as the world’s second-richest person, just behind Musk — making Eilish’s comments a direct challenge to two of the most powerful tech figures on the planet.

The clash between Musk and Eilish has sparked widespread online discussion about wealth, accountability, and the responsibilities of the ultra-rich in today’s global crises.
