BREAKING NEWS: Golden State Warriors Rising Star Brandin Podziemski Invest $4.3 Million to Transform Houses into Shelter For Homeless Youth In…

In a powerful display of compassion and community leadership, Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski has made headlines off the court by announcing a $4.3 million personal investment to convert a series of abandoned and underutilized homes across the Bay Area into safe, supportive shelters for homeless youth.

The 21-year-old NBA rising star, known for his gritty play and high basketball IQ, is now being celebrated for his philanthropic vision and commitment to creating long-lasting impact beyond the game.

The initiative, dubbed “Project Safe Step”, will launch this summer in collaboration with local housing nonprofits and mental health organizations. The program aims not only to provide shelter, but also wraparound services—such as counseling, education support, and job training—for at-risk and unhoused young people ages 14–24.

“Basketball gave me a platform, but this is about purpose,” Podziemski said during a press conference held outside one of the newly acquired properties in Oakland. “There are too many kids out here with no safety net. If I can help even a few find stability and a path forward, then this is the most important investment I’ve made.”

According to recent estimates, over 3,000 youth experience homelessness on any given night in the Bay Area. Many face barriers to education, employment, and basic health services. Podziemski’s investment will help restore and repurpose 12 properties across Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose, creating more than 80 beds within the next 18 months.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Podziemski’s leadership, saying, “Brandin has always had the heart of a champion—not just on the court, but in how he carries himself in the community. We couldn’t be prouder.”

Fans and teammates alike took to social media to applaud the guard’s generosity, with some calling him “the real MVP” for using his platform to make tangible change.

Podziemski, who was drafted by the Warriors in 2023, has quickly become a fan favorite for his relentless hustle and high-energy performances. Now, with Project Safe Step, he’s cementing himself as a force for good in the Bay Area—both as a rising NBA star and a socially conscious changemaker.
