BREAKING NEWS: Trump—Flanked By Kid Rock—Signs Executive Order To Take On Ticket Fees, Scalpers
In a significant move aimed at addressing the rampant issues of ticket scalping and excessive fees, former President Donald Trump, accompanied by musician Kid Rock, signed an executive order that seeks to protect consumers and ensure fair access to live entertainment. The announcement was made during a press conference that highlighted the growing concerns surrounding the ticket reselling industry.
“It’s an honor to have you back, a friend of mine, Kid Rock—sometimes referred to as Bob,” Trump began, acknowledging the musician’s long-standing friendship and advocacy for the cause. “He’s been after something that is for the good of a lot of people, particularly the public, regarding ticket sales and the gouging that has gotten worse over time.”
Trump explained that he had initially been unaware of the extent of the problem but had quickly learned about the issues plaguing ticket sales. “I thought I’d check it out, and it is a big problem,” he said. “Kid Rock has been trying to get this done for 20 years, and I’m proud to say we got it done in just two weeks.”
The executive order charges the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice with rigorously enforcing existing laws related to ticket reselling, in collaboration with state attorneys general who have the power over consumer protection. This initiative aims to crack down on the abusive practices that have plagued fans of live entertainment.
Kid Rock, known for his outspoken nature, took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the swift action. “Thank you, Mr. President, because this has happened at lightning speed,” he said. “Anyone who’s bought a concert ticket in the last decade knows it’s a conundrum. You buy a ticket for $100, and by the time you check out, it’s $170. These bots come in to get all the good tickets to your favorite shows, and then they’re relisted immediately for sometimes a 400-500% markup. The artists don’t see any of that money.”
He continued, “I think this is a great first step. I would love down the road if there could be some legislation to actually put a cap on the resale of tickets. I’m a capitalist and a deregulation guy, but they’ve tried this in some places in Europe, and it seems to be the only way to get tickets into the hands of the fans at the prices we set.”
Trump echoed Kid Rock’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for fairness in ticket sales. “The artists and the fans are the ones who suffer when scalpers and bots take over the market,” he said. “We need to ensure that everyone has access to live entertainment without being gouged.”
The conversation shifted to the role of ticketing companies like Ticketmaster, which have been criticized for their practices. “If Ticketmaster sells a ticket and you buy a ticket to a show, you’re in a lot of ways their worst customer,” Trump noted. “They make another 17% every time that ticket resells, so they don’t want to enforce the bots act necessarily because they’re making more money off it.”
Kid Rock added, “I want the fans to have fair ticket prices and be able to enjoy more shows. I know people who can only decide on a family vacation or going to their favorite concert once a year. I’d like to take my ticket prices lower, but if I set my ticket prices low, these bots immediately eat them up and resell for hundreds of dollars more.”
The press conference concluded with a call to action for fans and artists alike to support the initiative. “This is a big step toward getting it done,” Trump said. “We’re going to make sure that the voices of the fans and the artists are heard.”
As the news of the executive order spread, it was met with widespread approval from fans and artists who have long been frustrated by the ticket scalping industry. The collaboration between Trump and Kid Rock has sparked hope for a future where live entertainment is accessible and affordable for everyone.
In a world where ticket prices have skyrocketed and fans often feel powerless against scalpers, this executive order represents a significant step toward restoring fairness in the ticketing process. With the support of influential figures like Trump and Kid Rock, the movement to protect consumers and ensure equitable access to live events is gaining momentum, promising a brighter future for fans of live entertainment.
