Two Daughters SLAP Their Mother to the Ground Over Land — And All of Ogun State Explodes in Outrage!
In the quiet town of Ijebu Ode, nestled in the heart of Ogun State, lived Mama Abike, a widow known for her wisdom and kindness. She had raised her two daughters, Sade and Tola, with love and sacrifice, working the family’s small plot of land to provide for them after her husband’s passing. The land, passed down through generations, was more than soil and crops—it was the soul of their family.
As the years went by, Sade and Tola grew into ambitious young women. Sade, the eldest, was a successful trader in Lagos, while Tola ran a popular tailoring shop in town. Both daughters sent money home, but their visits became less frequent, and their calls shorter. Still, Mama Abike cherished every moment with them, dreaming of a day when they would all live together on the family land.
One humid afternoon, Mama Abike called her daughters home. She was growing old and frail, and wanted to discuss the future of the land. As the three women sat under the ancient mango tree, Mama Abike spoke softly, “My daughters, this land is all I have to give you. When I am gone, I want you to share it, to love and care for each other as I have loved you.”
But Sade and Tola’s eyes had changed. Sade demanded, “Mama, the land should go to me. I am the eldest, and I have invested the most in this family.” Tola shot back, “That’s not true! I am the one who stayed, who took care of Mama when you disappeared to Lagos!”
The argument grew heated, voices rising, neighbors peeking over fences at the commotion. Mama Abike tried to calm them, “My children, please, this land is for both of you. Don’t let greed tear us apart.”
Suddenly, Sade snapped. In a moment of anger, she slapped her mother across the face. Tola, not to be outdone, shoved Mama Abike, who stumbled and fell to the ground. The old woman’s cry echoed through the compound. The neighbors rushed over, horrified at the sight of the daughters standing over their fallen mother.
Word spread like wildfire. By evening, the story was all over Ogun State. Radio stations buzzed with outrage, social media exploded with condemnation, and the local market was abuzz with angry voices. “How could they?” people asked. “After all that woman did for them!”
Community leaders gathered at Mama Abike’s home, demanding justice. The daughters, now ashamed and afraid, tried to apologize, but no words could erase what they had done. Elders from the town council called an emergency meeting, and the daughters were summoned before the whole community.
In the town square, with hundreds watching, Sade and Tola knelt before their mother. Tears streaming down their faces, they pleaded for forgiveness. Mama Abike, bruised but dignified, looked at her daughters with sorrow. “I forgive you,” she said, “but you must learn that land and riches mean nothing if you lose your heart.”
The council decreed that the land would remain in Mama Abike’s name until her passing, and that Sade and Tola must work together to tend it under the supervision of the elders. They were also ordered to serve the community for one year, helping the elderly and the poor.
The incident became a lesson throughout Ogun State. Families discussed the dangers of greed and the sacred duty of honoring one’s parents. Sade and Tola, humbled and changed, slowly rebuilt their relationship with their mother, learning that true wealth was not in land, but in love and respect.
And so, the story of Mama Abike and her daughters became a powerful warning—a reminder that when greed strikes, a whole community can rise to defend what is right. Ogun State would never forget, and neither would the daughters who once let anger overshadow love.
