Nearly two decades after the world first met Kevin Federline as “Britney Spears’ husband”, the former dancer and father of six is finally reclaiming his own story — in his own words.
Sitting down for an intimate interview, Federline reflects on why he chose to release his long-awaited memoir now.
“For the last two decades, I feel like my story’s been told by everybody else,” he explains. “Now, I finally felt the need to come forward and tell it myself.”
A Story of Fatherhood and Healing
In the book, Federline offers what he calls an “unfiltered look” at his life — from whirlwind fame to fatherhood and beyond. For years, tabloids painted him as a background character in someone else’s drama. Now, he’s ready to show the full picture.
“This book gives a well-rounded version of who I am,” he says. “A husband, a father, an ex-husband, a friend. I’m really proud of that.”
But the hardest part to write? His children. Federline admits that revisiting what sons Sean Preston and Jayden James endured during public scrutiny was emotionally difficult.
“You want to protect your kids,” he shares softly. “You want to do right by them. Writing about their experiences — what we’ve all gone through as a family — that was the toughest part.”
The Britney Years — and Beyond
Of course, no story about Kevin Federline can avoid his high-profile marriage to Britney Spears. He revisits the early spark, the chaos of fame, and the complicated love that defined an era of celebrity culture.
“I dive into the good, the bad — all of it,” he admits. “My publisher told me I had to be completely transparent, and I agreed. I wanted to bring truth — to show the world who I am, and what my family’s been through.”
Federline even recounts the night before their 2004 wedding — when Britney reportedly called her ex, Justin Timberlake, to “end one chapter before starting another.” Looking back, Kevin describes the moment as “a shock” but not a dealbreaker.
“I knew she was madly in love with me,” he says. “But yeah — that was one of those red flag moments.”
On Britney’s Well-Being
Even years after their separation, Federline admits he still worries about Britney.
“Every day,” he confesses. “What kind of father would I be if I didn’t care? I want Britney to be around for our sons for a long, long time.”
When asked about Britney’s own memoir, Federline says he understands that everyone has their own truth — but he wanted to set the record straight about their divorce.
“I think her version wasn’t completely accurate,” he says carefully. “You’ll see in my book what really happened and when things started to change.”
Redefining Kevin Federline
So who is Kevin Federline today?
“A very seasoned father, a loving husband,” he says. “I’m laidback, I’ve learned a lot, and I try to lead by example. I’m not perfect, but I’m full of love and understanding.”
The former dancer laughs about no longer being the “cool one” at home — even though his kids, now young adults, are all chasing creative passions of their own.

“All my boys are into music,” he says proudly. “One’s in school for it, another’s working on an album. My daughter’s an artist. They’re figuring themselves out — and I’m proud of who they’re becoming.”
His two youngest, still living at home, are thriving in sports — especially volleyball and dance.
“My daughter’s danced since she was two or three,” he smiles. “I’ll try to show her old videos of me performing, and she’ll just say, ‘That’s cool, Dad, but look what I can do!’ I’m the old man now.”
Choosing Peace Over Fame
As the conversation closes, Federline reflects on what truly matters.
“No amount of fame or money means anything to me anymore,” he says. “I don’t care about Hollywood. I care about my family. I care about the things that are untouchable.”
With his memoir, Kevin Federline isn’t seeking sympathy — just understanding. After years of silence, he’s finally speaking his truth, one chapter at a time.
