How Farrah Abraham Talks to Teen Daughter Sophia About Sex
Farrah Abraham is no stranger to public scrutiny, but in a recent interview, she took a bold step in reshaping the conversation around sex education, parenting, and personal growth. As a former teen mom turned advocate, Farrah has made it a point to be open and honest with her daughter, Sophia, especially when it comes to topics many parents shy away from — like sex, consent, and body autonomy.
“I’m probably just Mrs. Positive over here,” Farrah begins with a lighthearted tone, “but I have to say, from being able to speak on sex, I even got flown out many times by different educational institutions to speak about sex ed and share my life with other teenagers.”
Her approach to parenting is refreshingly transparent. Farrah doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable — instead, she embraces it. She talks about how she addressed Sophia’s first period: “I took her and I talked all day to her about it. I said, ‘These are good things, and these are bad things.’” That same approach applies to how she talks about relationships and intimacy: by sharing both the highs and lows.
Farrah believes that contrast — the good and the bad — is vital. “So that they can have the contrast to understand what they want to choose and why they want to choose it.” She openly acknowledges that she didn’t have the same kind of support growing up. That absence is what fuels her commitment to being fully present for her daughter now.
But it hasn’t been an easy journey.
“There’s a dark side to it as well,” she admits. “No, I didn’t know what I was doing and it happened so fast. You don’t have ownership to your body.” Reflecting on her own controversial past — including the release of her sex tape — Farrah addresses it not with shame, but with the wisdom of hindsight.
“It’s so good to look back. It’s so good to see growth.” She finds strength in vulnerability and chooses to use her story as a way to uplift others. “If anyone else goes through this, they don’t have to disappear and hide,” she says, referencing her involvement in the Secrets of Celebrity Sex Tapes series.
Her goal now? Paying it forward. Helping others. Being the voice she didn’t have when she was younger. That, Farrah says, is the real purpose.
In a world where taboo topics often remain behind closed doors, Farrah Abraham is opening them wide — one honest conversation at a time.
