A Bad Day for Trump’s Team: Lies, Humiliation, and the Fight for Working Americans
It was a rough day to be part of the Trump administration—something that brought more than a few critics a sense of satisfaction. President Trump, frustrated and lashing out, went after Republican members of Congress who dared to turn against him, especially those supporting a discharge petition to force a vote on the House floor.
His cabinet wasn’t spared either. Howard Lutnik, once a Trump ally, had crossed him, leaving Trump furious. But perhaps the worst fate fell on White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levit, who faced humiliation not just from the press and her own boss, but also from Elon Musk.

Before diving into how Musk embarrassed Levit, the story starts with the controversial continuing resolution (CR) MAGA Republicans are pushing through Congress. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) called out this legislation, highlighting how it would enrich a handful of senators while cutting food assistance and healthcare for millions of Americans. She asked, “How can members of Congress vote to enrich themselves by stealing from the American people?” Her words rang true for many, and Levit would spend much of her time trying—and failing—to distract from this reality.
The administration’s indifference was clear. Trump’s team seemed to revel in the division between themselves and ordinary Americans, hosting lavish parties at Mar-a-Lago while pushing policies that hurt working people. Levit’s job was to defend these actions, but she stumbled badly, especially when she lied about Trump’s health and food prices.
Levit claimed that a DoorDash report showed food prices were steady and wages were climbing, echoing Fox Business. But Twitter’s community notes quickly fact-checked her, pointing out that the report actually showed rising prices—contradicting her misleading claims. Even government data confirmed that grocery prices had gone up, something experts and the public could see for themselves.
The administration’s reliance on questionable data and willingness to fire those who reported inconvenient truths became a theme. Congressman Ro Khanna dubbed them the “Epstein class”—wealthy, well-connected individuals who operate above the law and deny reality, telling the public not to believe their own eyes.
This pattern of denial and abuse of power extended to their legislative priorities. When Democrats tried to lower healthcare costs, Republicans took eight weeks of paid vacation, refusing to act. Congressman Jim McGovern returned to Congress with a fiery speech, blasting Republicans for their indifference and corruption. He highlighted how Trump’s net worth had soared while ordinary Americans struggled with rising premiums and costs, all while Republicans funneled money to billionaires and foreign countries instead of helping those in need.
Buried in the CR, McGovern revealed, was a million-dollar kickback for eight Republican senators—paid for by taxpayers. “They promise to put America first,” he said, “but the only thing they put first is themselves.”
The story ends with a call to action: keep fighting, don’t let them silence you, and remember that moral clarity and truth still have a place in politics. The struggle for working Americans continues, even as the powerful try to rewrite reality for their own benefit.
