**From Skin and Bones to Happiness: The Journey of Rescuing Strong**

It all began with a heartbreaking plea. A girl approached me, saying there was a severely emaciated stray dog near a trash bin. She hoped I could help, but she was too scared to approach him. When I arrived, I was utterly shocked. This was the frailest dog I had ever seen—skin and bones, patches of fur missing, and so malnourished he could barely stand.

I immediately went home to bring food for the little one. He devoured it in large mouthfuls, eating as if he hadn’t had a proper meal in ages. Watching him eat so desperately broke my heart. I decided to take him home. Leaving him there would’ve meant certain death.

### **A Stray’s Painful Past**

When I brought him home, neighbors told me he had been scavenging through garbage to survive. His skin was ulcerated, his fur almost entirely gone, and his bones were painfully visible. I prepared food for him—sausages and eggs—to give him energy. He wolfed it down quickly, and I reassured him to eat slowly, promising no one would take his food away.

Despite his severe condition, his spirit showed glimpses of resilience. I named him Strong, hoping the name would mirror his inner strength.

### **The Fight for Recovery**

On the third day, Strong’s condition improved slightly. He ate nutritious meals I prepared every day, including chicken legs and milk powder. However, his eyes remained problematic—one was still closed, and his wounds required daily care.

By the sixth day, I decided to take him to the vet again. The doctor revealed his eyes had perforated due to severe infection and began anti-inflammatory treatment and IV therapy. Strong endured the treatments bravely, even when they were painful.

Day by day, his condition improved. By the ninth day, both eyes could open, though one was still weaker than the other. His wounds were healing, and his appetite remained strong.

### **Small Victories, Big Hope**

On the eleventh day, Strong’s spirit had noticeably lifted. He began walking around by himself and eagerly waited for meals. I continued cooking nutritious food for him, ensuring he gained strength.

By day thirteen, Strong started adapting to life at home. His trust in me grew, and he began showing affection—rolling over to expose his belly and hopping onto me for pets.

His skin gradually peeled, revealing signs of recovery. The doctor confirmed he could now take baths, so I carefully gave him his first warm bath. Strong behaved well, letting me scrub and clean him thoroughly.

### **A Month of Transformation**

After a month, Strong’s progress was remarkable. His fur began growing back, his wounds healed, and he gained weight. He now weighed ten jin (5kg), up from eight jin when I first rescued him.

Strong’s personality began to shine. He followed me everywhere, waited patiently for meals, and tilted his head adorably when called.

Though his fur wasn’t fully grown, his transformation was undeniable. He was no longer the skeletal stray scavenging for scraps. He was becoming a healthy, happy dog.

### **New Friends and Continued Care**

As Strong recovered, he made new friends. Xiao Bai, my relative’s dog, came to stay for a few days, and the two quickly became inseparable. Later, I rescued another dog, Xiao Ha, who was missing a front leg. Despite his disability, Xiao Ha bonded with Strong almost instantly.

Strong’s playful nature emerged as he welcomed new companions and shared meals. He even tried stealing Xiao Bai’s food, showing his cheeky side.

### **Two Months Later: A New Life**

At the two-month mark, Strong’s fur had grown back significantly, and his wounds were almost entirely healed. He weighed twelve jin (6kg), gaining two jin in just half a month.

Strong now lived happily, playing in the village and running to me whenever I called him for meals. His transformation was complete—no longer the fragile stray, but a lively and joyful dog.

### **A Happy Ending**

Seventy-five days after rescuing Strong, he was unrecognizable. His fur was full, his body healthy, and his spirit vibrant. He had gained weight, confidence, and trust.

Strong’s journey from skin and bones to happiness is a testament to resilience and the power of compassion. He is no longer just a survivor—he is thriving, loved, and cared for.

As I watch Strong grow, I’m reminded that every effort was worth it. Strong is proof that with love, patience, and care, even the most broken can heal.
