Western Michigan University theater student Jack Austin had an emotional moment following the Monday, October 27, episode of The Voice, after being saved at the last second by coach Michael Bublé. The 21-year-old’s fate seemed sealed when Niall Horan chose to send Dek of Hearts, the country trio, forward in the Battle Round. But Bublé’s quick-thinking Steal ensured Jack advanced to the Knockouts, leaving fans both relieved and thrilled.
Austin first captured attention during his Blind Audition on September 22, earning chair turns from Bublé, Horan, and Reba McEntire, while Snoop Dogg opted not to turn. He originally chose Team Niall, and in the Battle Round, he was paired against Dek of Hearts to perform Mumford & Sons’ I Will Wait.
The performance showcased Jack’s theater background and confidence, opening with an a cappella segment that highlighted his pure tone. Dek of Hearts countered with precise, harmonious vocals that reflected their four-chair-turn caliber.
Reba McEntire praised the trio’s enthusiasm and called Jack “cute as a button,” while Snoop Dogg marveled at Jack’s dance moves and overall performance. Niall admitted he chose Dek of Hearts because he had never worked with a group before, and he wanted to help them blend seamlessly.
After the performance, Bublé explained his decision to steal Jack: “Jack just showed way too much potential for me not to use my Steal. He actually reminds me of a young Niall.” The Western Michigan student’s emotional response followed shortly after, with a heartfelt post on social media:
“Hey @michaelbuble… this feels right. I can’t thank Michael enough for saving me. I’m so honored to be on #TEAMBUBLE ‼️”
Fans flooded social media with excitement and praise for Jack Austin’s save, cheering him on with messages like, “Let’s go, Jack! What an amazing fit for Team Bublé! 🙌🔥😍” and “You did amazing! I can’t wait to watch your Voice journey and see your growth as an artist.”

Many shared their delight at seeing him join Bublé, saying, “Good thing Team Michael is my favorite!” and “Team Bublé just got a whole lot better.” Others expressed heartfelt support: “I’m so proud of you,” “Winner in my heart, king,” and “You owned that battle. Congrats on making it to the Knockouts!” Fans even admitted they’d miss him on Niall’s team, but celebrated that Jack wasn’t leaving the competition anytime soon, with one fan adding, “Hope to see you in the finals!”

The save not only extended Jack Austin’s journey on The Voice, but also showcased Michael Bublé’s sharp eye for talent and timing. The Knockout Round will continue next Monday, November 3, at 9:00 p.m., giving viewers a chance to see Jack’s next steps as he competes on Team Bublé.
