**Manman: The Puppy Who Walked on a Bone**

This video was taken by a passerby in Huangshi City on May 5th.

At just three seconds in, a tiny puppy is seen struggling to cross a road. But something is clearly different about her.

She has no front legs.

Only a small bone juts out, helping her drag her little body forward. She looks helpless, and the video, once posted online, quickly went viral.

People were heartbroken. Everyone wanted to know what had happened to her—and more importantly, where she was. They hoped someone could find and help her as soon as possible.

At first, there was barely any information. Some speculated that she might be in Yangxin County, near Huangshi. After contacting the original uploader, a local rescue group sprang into action.

It had just rained. The ground was wet and slippery as volunteers combed the streets. They asked locals, “Have you seen a puppy walking on a bone?”

A couple running a restaurant remembered her. “We last saw her three days ago,” they said. “She usually walks in that direction.”

Following the tip, the team split up. Some volunteers followed the couple; others searched a nearby abandoned factory.

The woman from the restaurant said the dog had been like this for over a year.

Locals confirmed it. Many had seen her hiding from the rain under piles of wood. Those who knew her said she was gentle and never bit anyone.

But she was timid—understandably so. Her front limbs were likely severed by a trap. What remained was red, caked in mud.

When the rescuers approached, she seemed to sense they meant no harm. She even wagged her tail.

Finally, they had her. She was gently lifted and taken to the rescue center for a medical checkup. Thanks to the villagers’ help, the rescue went smoothly. With comforting words and soft touches, she began to relax.

On the drive to the hospital, someone said softly, “We’re almost there.” For this little soul, the suffering was finally coming to an end.

That same day, she was given a preliminary examination.

All her health indicators pointed to one serious problem: **severe anemia**—likely due to long-term malnutrition from life on the streets. The vet decided to begin with observation and supportive care. Liver function and other issues would be monitored closely.

Eventually, surgery would be necessary. Amputation. After that, she could be fitted with a wheelchair or assistive devices.

At the hospital, she had her first real meal in a long time.

She ate heartily.

Now she had a name: **Manman**—meaning “a life full of blessings.” She licked the bowl clean, as if knowing this was the start of something better.

With a full belly, Manman drifted into a peaceful sleep.

No more cold nights. No more hunger. No more pain.

Manman is incredibly strong. Even after everything she endured, she remains brave and resilient. There’s no doubt—she’ll make it through surgery. And she’ll recover.

She has every reason to look forward to the future.
