Angel Reese Makes First Post After Chicago Sky Trade

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is entering her second WNBA season. Averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in her first professional campaign, Reese finished second in Rookie of the Year voting to Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Following her strong rookie campaign, Reese starred for Rose BC in the inaugural season of Unrivaled League. Winning the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award and earning Second Team honors, Reese also led Rose to the playoffs where they went 2-0 en route to a championship.

A hand injury held Reese out of Unrivaled postseason play, but she is already out of the brace and has returned to training (via Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune).

Chicago missed the WNBA playoffs last season, finishing with a 13-27 record that ranked last in the Eastern Conference. Looking to reenter postseason contention this season, the team announced a trade on Sunday.

“Minnesota and Chicago have agreed to extinguish Minnesota’s right to swap the teams’ own 2026 first-round draft picks,” the team wrote on X. “Minnesota trades its 2025 first-round draft pick (#11 overall) to Chicago in exchange for Chicago’s 2026 first-round draft pick.”

In her first post since this trade, Reese shared two heart emojis with the Sky colors.

As the 2024 WNBA draft showed, incoming rookies can make a strong impact. While the Sky have already made offseason moves, landing key contributors in the draft could be one way to expedite a return to the playoffs.

Chicago will open its season on May 17 against the Fever.
