JD Vance Delivers a Clear Message to Elon Musk: Don’t Split the Right, Fix It from Within
In a week when the topics of crime, chaos, and political parties are front and center, Senator JD Vance took to the airwaves with a direct message for the world’s richest man—and newly minted political provocateur—Elon Musk: Don’t break up the American right, fix it from the inside.
An Eventful Morning in the Nation’s Capital
Joined by Vice President Laura Ingraham on FOX News, Vance detailed a surprise visit to Washington, D.C.’s Union Station—an urban landmark that had become infamous for rising crime and public disorder. “Over the past nine days, since the President declared an emergency order, it looks a lot better, it feels a lot safer,” Vance said, crediting new law enforcement initiatives and a large National Guard presence. Crime statistics, he emphasized, showed a dramatic 35% drop in violent incidents and a 55% drop in robberies in less than two weeks.
“The lesson is clear,” Vance said. “You don’t have to live with chaos. Cities are only lawless if you lack the political will to enforce the law.”

A Sharp Rebuke for Democrats
Vance was unsparing in his criticism of Democratic leaders who—he argued—enable public disorder for political purposes. “Why do Democrats seem to love public chaos and lawlessness? They’re so disconnected from the neighborhoods they claim to represent, they don’t see how badly these policies are hurting regular people,” he argued, referencing California and New York as warning cases.
He further suggested that Democratic-run cities distort crime data, reclassifying burglaries and other incidents to downplay the effects of permissive crime policies. “People just want to live, work, and raise their kids in peace—but Democrats seem more concerned with helping illegal immigrants than protecting their own citizens,” Vance said bluntly.
Federal Leverage on the Table
Pressed by Ingraham about what leverage the federal government might use to compel states with lax policies to comply, Vance said all options were under review—including withholding federal highway funds from states and cities that refuse basic law enforcement and allow violence to spread.
“Sanctuary cities are literally endangering lives by sheltering violent criminals,” Vance said. “The American people expect their government to put their safety first.”
Ukraine, Trump’s Diplomacy, and the War That Shouldn’t Have Happened
Turning to foreign policy, Vance reflected on recent peace efforts in Ukraine, sharply contrasting President Trump’s bold, unorthodox diplomatic style to what he views as President Biden’s weakness. “If Trump had been president in 2022, this war would have never started. He’s not afraid to pick up the phone and call Putin directly, bypassing the endless diplomatic bureaucracy,” Vance asserted.
He made clear that the new administration’s priority is simple: achieve an end to the war, stop the killing, and ensure that Europe, not America, shoulders the responsibility for regional security. “Europe is wealthy. They have the means to pay for their own defense. America should not be carrying this burden alone,” Vance said.
Economic Optimism—With a Warning
Despite global turbulence, Vance offered an optimistic take on the American economy, touting a resurgence in blue-collar wages, cooling inflation, and a surge in new investments thanks to tariffs that incentivize domestic manufacturing.
“Now is the time to build in America…We’re making it easier than ever to produce critical goods and protect our economic sovereignty,” Vance said, referencing efforts to reduce U.S. reliance on Chinese pharmaceuticals and rare earth materials.
The Musk Question: Third Party or GOP Unity?
Things got especially interesting when the conversation turned to Elon Musk. After reports circulated that Musk—frustrated with both parties—was considering launching his own third party, or possibly backing Vance in 2028, the Ohio Senator delivered a clear, pragmatic message:
“I have never talked with Elon Musk, or frankly any other donor about 2028… but I think it would be a huge mistake for Elon to go forward with a third party. Whether you like it or not, you’re now perceived by the far left as being on the side of the American right. If Musk wants to make a difference, my advice is simple: Fix the Republican Party from the inside. Don’t split the right—push it in your own direction.”
Listing Musk’s support for law and order, economic growth, and manufacturing, Vance argued, “You’ll never get the left’s approval again. Disagree with us all you want—but make your case inside the GOP, not from the sidelines.”
Vance cited historical precedent: third parties don’t win, but they do divide the right and hand power to the progressive left. “The real influence comes from shaping, not shattering, the party’s future,” Vance concluded.
Looking Ahead: Demographics, Policies, and a 2028 GOP Wave?
With registration gains for the GOP outpacing those of the Democrats—and the latter’s continued focus on what Vance called “crazy priorities”—the senator forecast an opportunity for Republicans to control the midterms and beyond, provided they focus on “protecting law-abiding citizens, boosting prosperity, and never resting on our laurels.”
He ended on a note of camaraderie, promising to keep the pressure high and the vision focused. “We want Americans to be able to live safe, prosperous lives in their own cities, towns, and neighborhoods. And that starts with clear policy, authentic communication, and a little less political showmanship.”
The Takeaway
JD Vance’s message to Elon Musk, and to frustrated voters everywhere: Now isn’t the time for splinter movements or outsider parties. To be an agent of real change, build within. “Stay, fight, reform, and win.”
As political battle lines for 2028 begin to emerge, it’s advice that both sides—and billionaires—would do well to heed.
JD Vance’s interview sent a clear signal: if you want to change America’s future, don’t divide its opposition. Invest in fixing what’s already there.
