Stephen A. Smith publicly apologizes after making false LeBron James claim

LeBron James’ lengthy interview on Wednesday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show” had many people talking across the NBA landscape. One man who was talking about it was Stephen A. Smith, who was one of the people James talked about during the interview.

Smith unloaded on the Los Angeles Lakers superstar by saying he would’ve “swung on” James had James gotten physical during the altercation between the two several weeks ago. The ESPN personality even accused James of being a serial liar and passive aggressive.

Smith continued talking about James’ comments about him on Thursday’s episode of ESPN’s “First Take.” However, he made a false accusation of James by claiming the future Hall of Famer didn’t attend the memorial service for late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in 2020.

“He should be happy with the things that I haven’t brought up,” Smith said. “I never brought up why you were not at Kobe Bryant’s memorial service. I never really brought up a discussion about why you did not attend Dwyane Wade’s Hall of Fame induction when that man was directly responsible for you capturing the championship for the first time in your career. I never brought none of that.”

However, many were quick to point out that James was, in fact, in attendance for Bryant’s memorial.

Whether people love or love to hate Smith, he does seem to have some integrity. The New York City native quickly issued a public apology for giving out that piece of misinformation.

It is pretty safe to say that this is not the last comment the public will be hearing from either Smith or James about their feud.
