California’s Woke Disaster: Joe Rogan and Joey Diaz Expose Gavin Newsom’s Failed Leadership

California, once the golden state, is now a cautionary tale of political excess, mismanagement, and virtue signaling. As homeless encampments spread and crime surges, Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration seems more focused on optics than solutions. Joe Rogan, the influential podcast host and comedian, has become one of Newsom’s loudest critics, and he’s not alone.
Rogan, who once called California home, didn’t realize the depth of the problem until he left. “Everybody’s too busy tapping themselves on the back,” he says. The state’s leadership, from Newsom to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, is obsessed with image—whether it’s gelled hair, neck tattoos, or chasing photo ops while homes burn and families suffer. Rogan blasts the state’s refusal to course-correct, saying, “They’re going further and further into La La Land.”
California’s woes go beyond homelessness and crime. Rogan points to excessive regulation, sky-high taxes, and an endless web of bureaucracy that suffocates businesses. “If every business could instantly pull up roots and move, they’d all be gone,” he says. The only thing keeping companies in California is the sheer difficulty of leaving. Many have already fled to Texas, Florida, or Nevada, chasing lower taxes and saner governance.
Austin, Texas, stands in stark contrast. Rogan describes it as “a blue city in a red state,” where progressive ideals are balanced by practical governance. Austin thrives by fostering culture, tech, and innovation—without the crushing regulation and virtue theater that defines California. “Keep Austin weird and surrounded,” Rogan jokes, highlighting the city’s unique blend of creativity and moderation.
The consequences of California’s ideological overreach are everywhere. Laws mandating gender-neutral toy aisles and policies allowing kids to hide major life choices from parents are more than quirks—they’re symptoms of a trend where ideology trumps common sense. Rogan and comedian Joey Diaz both blast California’s leaders for chasing optics over outcomes, especially during crises like the Palisades fires.

Diaz’s criticism is scathing: politicians talk about caring but fail when it matters, leaving ordinary Californians to pay the price. He points out that protected classes—whether based on gender, sexuality, or other factors—are shielded from criticism, creating a “tyranny of the underprivileged.” Newsom, he says, has elevated the homeless into an untouchable group, masking policy failures with rhetoric while the streets spiral out of control.
This culture of entitlement, not accountability, has led to a dramatic increase in homelessness. Sacramento perpetuates the notion that if you lose everything, the government will bail you out. What should have been compassion has become a manual for addiction, and now Californians bear the heavy cost of Newsom’s disastrous social experiment.
Rogan and Diaz also take aim at lowered standards in critical professions. Firefighting, for example, demands real physical strength. “If you can’t carry someone out of a building, you shouldn’t be a firefighter,” Rogan asserts. Political correctness and quotas can’t change the fact that lives depend on competence, not appearances. The same holds true for surgeons, pilots, and other high-stakes roles.
The Democratic National Committee, Rogan argues, has mastered the art of forcing unfit leaders into roles to satisfy diversity optics. This “box-checking” culture values image over skill, leaving citizens with leaders who can’t do their jobs. In fields where failure means death—medicine, aviation, combat—merit must outweigh ideology. Lowering standards for politics puts lives at risk and insults real experts.
California under Newsom is a warning to America. Homelessness, bureaucracy, and incompetent leadership showcase the true cost of woke experiments. The country doesn’t need more theater—it needs leaders chosen for skill, vision, and character.
