Practice Report: Shey Peddy Joins Team, Reflects on Win Over Sun; Eyes Set on Minnesota Matchup Friday

Indianapolis, IN — Fresh off a statement win over the Connecticut Sun, the Indiana Fever returned to practice Thursday with renewed energy — and a familiar face in the gym. Veteran guard Shey Peddy, who recently signed with the team, officially joined practice and spoke to media for the first time since reuniting with the Fever.

“It feels good to be back out here,” Peddy said after the session. “New system, new faces, but same game. I’m excited to bring what I can to this group.”

The 36-year-old guard brings a steady hand and defensive grit to a young Indiana roster that’s been building momentum throughout the second half of the season. Known for her leadership and resilience, Peddy is expected to bolster the Fever’s depth heading into a critical stretch of games.

Head coach Christie Sides praised Peddy’s presence at practice.

“Shey’s a pro. She came in, picked things up quickly, and already made her voice heard. That’s what we need right now — experience, calm, and poise.”

Peddy’s arrival follows Indiana’s impressive 85–77 win over the Sun earlier this week — one of their biggest victories of the season. The Fever leaned on the dynamic duo of Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, who combined for 43 points, while the bench stepped up in key moments.

“Shey’s seen it all in this league,” Clark said. “She immediately brought great energy, was talking through plays, helping the younger players. She fits right in.”

Reflecting on the win, the team credited its composure in crunch time and improved defensive execution — two areas that have been emphasized in recent practices.

“We’ve been working on closing out games stronger, staying locked in during the final minutes,” said Boston. “Against the Sun, we did that — and that’s a sign of growth.”

Now, all focus shifts to Friday night’s game against the Minnesota Lynx — a matchup that could have playoff implications. The Lynx have been one of the league’s most consistent teams this season, anchored by Napheesa Collier’s MVP-caliber performance.

“She’s a force,” Peddy said of Collier. “We’re going to have to stay disciplined, communicate, and play together on both ends of the floor.”

Coach Sides noted that Peddy may see limited minutes in her first appearance back, but said her impact would go beyond the stat sheet.

“Whether she plays five minutes or twenty, Shey’s going to make a difference. She raises the IQ and confidence of this team.”

With just a few games left in the regular season, the Fever sit on the fringe of the playoff picture. Every possession matters — and the addition of a seasoned vet like Peddy could be the boost they need to make a final push.

Tip-off for Fever vs. Lynx is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
