Former LSU Star Alexis Morris Accuses Ex-Coach of Grooming in Shocking Allegations
In a stunning turn of events, former LSU and WNBA player Alexis Morris has come forward with allegations that she was groomed by her former coach during her collegiate basketball career. The accusation, which Morris reportedly made via social media earlier this week, has sent shockwaves through the women’s basketball community.
Morris, who played under Hall of Fame coach Kim Mulkey at both Baylor and LSU, claims that her relationship with the coach was inappropriate and manipulative from the beginning. She described a dynamic that went beyond the traditional coach-player boundaries, suggesting she was emotionally controlled and “groomed” into loyalty, dependency, and silence during her most formative years.
“This wasn’t just basketball,” Morris reportedly wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “This was grooming masked as mentorship. I was a teenager, fresh out of high school, and she had full control over my future.”

Though Morris did not name Mulkey directly in the post, fans quickly connected the dots, given their long and complicated history. Morris was originally recruited by Mulkey to Baylor in 2017 but was dismissed from the team in 2018 for a violation of team rules. She later transferred to Rutgers, then Texas A&M, before ultimately reuniting with Mulkey at LSU in 2021—a move that had surprised many at the time.
In a follow-up Instagram video, Morris reportedly elaborated on her experience, stating, “I kept quiet for so long because I didn’t think people would believe me. I was afraid of losing everything—my career, my reputation, my peace. But now, I’m speaking out for every young athlete who’s ever felt trapped by someone in power.”
As of now, LSU and Coach Mulkey have not publicly responded to the allegations. The university has also not issued any formal statement, though sources say internal conversations are ongoing.
The WNBA, where Morris briefly played after being drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2023, has also declined to comment on the matter, citing the need for more information.
Legal experts note that “grooming” is a term typically associated with preparing a minor for abuse, often sexual in nature. However, the term has evolved in popular usage to refer more broadly to emotional manipulation, especially in relationships with significant power imbalances—such as those between a coach and a young athlete.
Public reaction to the accusations has been mixed. Some fans have expressed support and praised Morris for her bravery in speaking out, while others have criticized the lack of specificity in her claims or questioned her motivations. Still, the majority agree that such allegations deserve to be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
Whether these claims lead to formal inquiries or legal proceedings remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Alexis Morris has ignited a conversation that extends far beyond the basketball court, raising difficult questions about power, control, and accountability in women’s sports.
