On a recent episode of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart dissected the latest revelations from the newly released Jeffrey Epstein emails—an explosive trove that has reignited scrutiny surrounding Epstein’s powerful connections. With his trademark mix of sharp political humor and pointed critique, Stewart highlighted the bizarre phrasing, political hypocrisy, and shifting narratives surrounding the case.

The Email That Set the Internet on Fire
One resurfaced exchange, sent between Epstein and his brother Mark, instantly went viral for a line that seemed too absurd even for America’s current political climate. The email instructed Jeffrey to ask Steve Bannon whether “Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba”—a sentence so surreal Stewart joked it should earn literary scholars lifetime tenure.
Mark Epstein later clarified that “Bubba” did not refer to Bill Clinton, a denial Stewart mocked with mock gratitude: “Thank you for clearing that up. No further questions.”
The ambiguity led Stewart to raise the obvious comedic question: If not Clinton, then which Bubba? As he put it, “You can’t blow a restaurant, Mr. President,” referencing Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Trump’s Shifting Position
Stewart reminded viewers that former president Donald Trump previously dismissed the Epstein files as “pretty boring stuff.” Yet with increasing public pressure and the House now possessing enough votes to demand their release, Trump reversed course—telling House Republicans to vote for publication because he has “nothing to hide.”
Stewart wasn’t buying it. He pointed out that Trump could have declassified the files at any time while in office: “How do I know this?” he asked. “Because a legal expert named Donald Jurisprudence Trump once said you can declassify documents just by thinking about it.”
Ghislaine Maxwell’s Puzzling Prison Perks
Stewart also mocked the reported special treatment Ghislaine Maxwell receives behind bars. News outlets revealed she enjoys private meals, reassigned cell mates for privacy, personal assistance from the warden, and even unlimited toilet paper.
For Stewart, the absurdity spoke for itself: “I’ve been a free man my whole life and I’ve never had unlimited toilet paper.”
Republican Media Avoidance and the “Impenetrable” Emails
Stewart criticized conservative media outlets—especially Fox News—for all but ignoring the Epstein email dump, choosing instead to focus on stories about Seattle’s supposed socialist takeover, the Northern Lights, and Vice President Kamala Harris’ love of carbohydrates.
He also scoffed at Republican claims that the Epstein emails are “difficult to decode.” As Stewart pointed out, many of them are disturbingly direct:
Invitations to Epstein involving “lots of girls from Russia.”
Messages promising pictures of a “very pretty Burmese girl” being brought to the U.S.
“These emails weren’t written by Navajo Code Talkers,” he said.
A Reminder of 2016’s Hypocrisy
Stewart contrasted today’s GOP reluctance to interpret Epstein’s messages with their enthusiastic embrace of “decoding” during the 2016 Pizzagate conspiracy. Back then, innocent references to pizza in John Podesta’s emails were interpreted as encoded messages about child trafficking.
The contradiction was clear: “Somehow, they had no trouble decoding ‘would love to get a pizza’ into a full-blown pedophile ring,” Stewart said.
A Crumbling Facade
Stewart suggested Trump’s recent missteps and contradictions signal growing panic under mounting legal and political pressure. Even Trump’s once-reliable skill—nicknaming opponents—has faltered, evidenced by his clunky new insult aimed at Marjorie Taylor Greene: “Marjorie Taylor Brown, because green grass turns brown when it begins to rot.”
The punchline wrote itself.
Conclusion
As the Epstein files continue to emerge, Stewart argued that transparency must apply to everyone—Democrats, Republicans, billionaires, and presidents alike. What’s clear, he said, is that both political sides should be investigated. But the renewed attention has also exposed blatant hypocrisy, selective outrage, and an unmistakable desperation from those eager to deflect.
And in true Jon Stewart fashion, he left viewers with uncomfortable truths wrapped in laughter.
