Caitlin Clark praises championship-winner Paige Bueckers in new interview

All eyes are on basketball star Paige Bueckers after Sunday’s National Championship win, and now other female basketball legends are chiming in on what can be expected from her promising career.

Bueckers landed a total of 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists during the highly anticipated championship game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. The final score ended in a major victory for the UConn Huskies at 82-59.

In a Sunday evening interview with The Bird and Taurasi Show, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark discussed what asset she believes Bueckers has that will benefit her most as she prepares for a career in the WNBA.

“I think her poise. That’s something you need coming into the W,” Clark said. “It all hits you so fast. You’re moving to a new city, you’re trying to understand your teammates, while you’re trying to live up to all these expectations. And I think that’s one of the greatest things about her game is just her poise and her maturity, and nothing ever seems to faze her. And she’s just always the same constant leader.”

Bueckers’ poise has already carried her through more than a few major obstacles throughout her time playing for UConn. Before this year, she’s pushed through multiple serious injuries and managed to make it to the Final Four three times, but without the sweet taste of championship victory. Each time, she held her head high and never let her confidence wane. Now, she’s enjoying her storybook win and the assurance that the best is yet to come.
