Colin Jost HILARIOUSLY DESTROYS Meghan Markle on SNL… (Crowd ERUPTS!)

Saturday Night Live returned this weekend with one of its most talked-about episodes of the season, thanks in no small part to Colin Jost, who took direct aim at Meghan Markle during the show’s legendary “Weekend Update” segment — and the audience couldn’t get enough.

In a monologue that instantly went viral, Jost — known for his sharp wit and perfectly timed deadpan — roasted the Duchess of Sussex in a way that left even his co-anchor Michael Che struggling to keep a straight face.

“Meghan Markle has reportedly signed on for a new Netflix show where she’ll play a woman who’s constantly misunderstood, married into royalty, and doesn’t like the press,” Jost began, pausing for effect.
“So… a documentary, then?”

The crowd erupted with laughter.

But Jost wasn’t done. He continued his comedic takedown with a smirk:

“Netflix says it’ll be a light-hearted drama — which is ironic, because the last time Meghan tried to act light-hearted, Buckingham Palace called it treason.”

By now, the audience was in hysterics, and social media was lighting up with reactions. Within minutes, “#ColinJost” and “#SNLMeghan” began trending on X (formerly Twitter), with users praising the segment as one of the sharpest celebrity takedowns in recent memory.

The final punchline, however, brought the house down:

“The show’s working title is ‘Duchess of Drama,’ but I think ‘Suits: The Royal Meltdown’ has a better ring to it.”

Michael Che leaned back in his chair, laughing, as the studio roared.

A Royal Roast Goes Viral

The joke came in the wake of Meghan and Prince Harry’s continued efforts to redefine their public image post-royalty, including Netflix deals, podcast ventures, and rumored scripted content. While the couple has had mixed success with their media projects, they remain a lightning rod for criticism — and comedy.

Though SNL has poked fun at the royal family before, this week’s segment marked one of the most direct and biting jabs at Meghan Markle personally, and fans of the show couldn’t get enough.

One user posted:

“Colin Jost just said what everyone was thinking. That was savage AND hilarious. Meghan’s PR team must be spiraling.”

Others, however, weren’t as amused. Some Markle supporters accused SNL of “punching down” and perpetuating negative narratives about the Duchess.

But Jost has never shied away from roasting high-profile figures — from Elon Musk to Donald Trump to the Pope. And on this night, Meghan Markle just happened to be in his comedic crosshairs.

No Response from the Palace — Or Montecito

Neither Meghan Markle nor Prince Harry has publicly responded to the sketch, but insiders say they’re “aware” of the segment — and that “public criticism comes with the territory.”

Regardless, the bit was a massive win for SNL, which has faced pressure in recent years to stay relevant in an ever-changing media landscape.

And if Saturday’s crowd reaction was any indication, Colin Jost may have delivered one of the show’s biggest laughs of the season — all at the expense of a duchess.
