Philadelphia, PA – A quiet Thursday afternoon turned into a scene of chaos and alarm when former Philadelphia Eagles center and beloved NFL legend Jason Kelce was involved in a horrifying  car crash at approximately 3:45 PM.

The accident occurred at a busy city intersection, leaving onlookers in disbelief and raising concerns over possible impaired driving.

According to eyewitnesses, Kelce’s black SUV ran a red light at high speed before colliding with a smaller sedan and careening into a traffic signal pole.

The impact left both  vehicles severely damaged and triggered a chain reaction that injured a pedestrian standing at the corner of the intersection.

Emergency responders arrived within minutes, quickly securing the area and attending to the injured.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was taken to Jefferson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary reports suggest that the individual sustained a fractured arm and several bruises.

 

Kelce, reportedly unharmed physically, appeared disoriented and unsteady at the scene, prompting officers to administer a field sobriety test.

Authorities later confirmed that Kelce’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. He was taken into custody and is currently being held pending further investigation.

No charges have been formally filed yet, but DUI-related charges are expected.

“This was one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen,” said Mark Holloway, a local barista who witnessed the crash. “The car just came out of nowhere and slammed into everything.

People were screaming. I couldn’t believe it was Jason Kelce behind the wheel.”

Jason Kelce, a Super Bowl champion and six-time Pro Bowler, retired from the NFL earlier this year.

He had remained in the spotlight through media appearances and his popular podcast with younger brother and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

The Kelce family has yet to issue a public statement, but a representative for the former center has acknowledged the incident and said they are “gathering information and fully cooperating with authorities.”

As of now, traffic at the intersection has been cleared, but the investigation continues. Officials are urging any additional witnesses to come forward as they piece together the moments leading up to the crash.
