Feature Kelly Clarkson The Voice

Tell a friend to tell a friend … She’s back. Kelly Clarkson made her long-awaited return to The Voice for the season 26 finale and blew fans away with her stunning ensemble for the evening.

The talk show host, 42, appeared on the Tuesday, December 10, episode of NBC’s singing competition to perform her holiday single “You for Christmas.” She took to the stage wearing a gorgeous gown with feathered trim on the sleeves and skirt. Her hair was curled in an old Hollywood style and she added some red lipstick for a pop of holiday flair. Lights and ornaments twinkled in the background as she performed.

Kelly served as a coach on The Voice during seasons 14 through 21 and again during season 23. She won the competition four times during her tenure. Kelly stepped away from The Voice after season 23 due to her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, moving from Los Angeles to New York in summer 2023. She decided to move her family to the Big Apple, as well, and was unable to continue filming The Voice in L.A.

“I talked to [my staff] because I was like, ‘Guys, I need you to know what’s happening. It’s either I’m not going to be able to continue the show or I gotta go East Coast,’” she explained to TalkShopLive in May 2023.

The mom of two, who shares kids River Rose and Remington Alexander with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, added that she also felt isolated from her family members on the east coast during the pandemic, which is “not good for anyone.”

Kelly also shared that her family “needed a fresh start” after she had “a lot of personal things going on.”

The American Idol winner seemed to hint in October 2023 that she had no plans to return to The Voice as a coach. “I’ve learned a lot about what I’m capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying ‘bye’ to The Voice and having this big move,” she told USA Today. “I love that family, but I was like, ‘I’m struggling. I can’t smile anymore. I don’t feel like smiling.’”

With that said, Kelly is still a part of The Voice family and made an appearance during an episode in May to celebrate 25 seasons of the hit series.

In addition to the changes in her personal life, Kelly has also gone through a major physical change since fans last saw her as a coach on The Voice. The singer dropped more than 40 pounds and has shown off her incredible weight loss in plenty of stylish outfits on her talk show. Though fans speculated that Kelly had taken Ozempic to shed the weight, she shut down the rumors while talking to Whoopi Goldberg in May.

“My doctor chased me for, like, two years and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems.’ I was afraid. Everyone thinks it’s Ozempic. It’s not. It’s something else. But it’s something that aids in breaking down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn’t do it right,” she said.

A source exclusively told Life & Style in October that Kelly had gained a few pounds back, but in a good way.

“She was so emaciated and frail-looking before,” the insider said. “Kelly’s actually put a little weight back on and it looks good on her. She’s lost that ‘I’m so hungry right now’ expression and her eyes are brighter, her smile more genuine. Now, she’s the perfect, normal size. She’s enjoying her meals and has a healthy glow about her.”
