Luciano Huck’s Arrogance REVEALED: Director Breaks Silence and Tells the Full Story
For the first time ever, a respected Brazilian voice-acting director has spoken openly about what really happened behind the scenes during Luciano Huck’s controversial dubbing work on Disney’s Tangled (Enrolados).
His testimony—calm, articulate, but unmistakably firm—reveals a portrait of professional frustration, corporate pressure, and an actor who simply refused to be directed.

“There was no directing. None.”
The director begins bluntly:
“There was no direction. He arrived, did what he wanted, and left.”
According to him, Huck entered the recording booth convinced he already knew exactly what he wanted to deliver. He didn’t ask for guidance, didn’t take suggestions, and didn’t allow any form of collaboration.
“I’m not going to ask someone to give something they don’t want to give,”
he explained.
“People give what they can give.”
This theme repeats throughout the interview: if an actor is unwilling to listen, the work becomes a one-sided performance, not a creative partnership.
Corporate Pressure and the Reality of Celebrity Casting
The director insists the decision to cast Huck was not his. In the dubbing industry, major companies typically choose big names for promotional power—not artistic fit.
He compares it to advertising:
“Who gets hired today? The great actor, or the influencer with six million followers?
Let’s not be naïve.”
For companies, recognizable names mean profit. Artistic concerns often come second.
He Tried to Guide Huck—But Huck Refused

Although the director attempted to provide direction, Huck made it clear he didn’t want it:
“If someone arrives saying they know what they want to do, there’s no dialogue.”
The director describes the uncomfortable dynamic: Huck would start speaking before him, talking over him, making communication impossible.
At that point, he simply stepped back.
“Why would I talk to someone who doesn’t want to listen?”
A Professional Doing Damage Control Behind the Scenes
Even though the session was strained, the director says he spent hours editing to ensure Huck wouldn’t be embarrassed:
“I worked many hours so he wouldn’t be exposed.
I didn’t sabotage anything.”
A fellow sound engineer, João, also helped salvage the performance, stitching together the usable parts.

Why He Didn’t Fight the Decision
At the time, the director was already planning to leave the company. He had submitted his resignation weeks earlier, so he didn’t feel he had the authority—or motivation—to challenge upper management or force Huck to cooperate.
“I’m not the king of the company.”
He emphasizes that even as director, he wasn’t the final decision-maker:
“I’m one piece in an organizational chart. I give my opinion, but if I’m outvoted, that’s life.”
A Lesson About Respect and the Creative Process
In contrasting Huck’s behavior with other actors—particularly Chico—the director touches on the deeper issue: art only works when both sides respect each other.
“I only speak if someone wants to hear me.
If not, the conversation ends.”
He describes directing as entering someone’s personal artistic space:
“Even if the product belongs to the company, the performance is part of the actor.
It’s their house. I’m entering their space.”
When an artist refuses communication, the process collapses.

Final Thoughts: “People only hear what they want.”
By the end of the interview, the director’s message is clear:
Luciano Huck wasn’t the worst person he ever worked with—but he was one of the most closed off.
“If you come in wanting to dance rock while a waltz is playing, fine.
Shake my arm however you want.
It’s your dance.”
But what he cannot do is direct someone who refuses to listen.
