NBA Sends Message to Steve Kerr After Historic News

Steph Curry made history in Sunday night’s Game 1 win over the Houston Rockets. The Golden State Warriors superstar climbed to the No. 17 spot for all-time field goals made in the playoffs after making his 1,336th shot in the postseason on Sunday.

It wasn’t just Curry who rewrote history in the Warriors’ 95-85 win, though. Head coach Steve Kerr also made his mark in the NBA history books by securing his 100th career playoff win.

Kerr entered the game tied with nine-time champion coach Red Auerbach on 99 wins. Sunday’s victory, however, allowed Kerr to overtake the legendary Boston Celtics coach to tie Larry Brown for the No. 6 spot on the elite list.

The NBA sent a message to Kerr after his historic milestone.

“Congrats to Steve Kerr of the @warriors for reaching 100 career playoff wins and moving into 6th on the all-time playoff COACHING WINS list!” the league posted on X.

The personal accolade is all well and good, but knowing Kerr, this feat is likely not at the top of his list of priorities right now. The Warriors pulled off a huge win to steal home-court advantage from the Rockets, and they will now want to keep the momentum going for Game 2 on Wednesday.

For what it’s worth, though, Golden State is now just 15 wins away from its fifth championship of this era. For Kerr, this means potentially climbing to the fourth spot for the most coaching playoff wins if the Warriors go all the way this season.
