Steph Curry’s Wife Won’t Stop Embarrassing Him
Recently, Ayesha Curry made headlines again after appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast in August 2025, where she opened up about her personal life, marriage to NBA superstar Steph Curry, and how quickly her life changed after they got married and had children. Her admission — that she initially didn’t want to get married or have kids — went viral and reignited criticism online. According to Ayesha, she always imagined herself as a “career girl,” and when life took a different turn, she didn’t even have time to process what she really wanted.
While such reflections are normal and relatable for many women, especially those trying to juggle family and personal ambitions, many on social media felt her comments came off as ungrateful — particularly considering the life she now leads. Critics pointed out how statements like these could be hurtful to her children, who might one day hear that their mother hadn’t originally wanted to become a mom. Some users claimed she was once again publicly embarrassing her husband. Even rapper Killer Mike chimed in, calling her comments unnecessary. Steph Curry, however, defended his wife, telling Killer Mike to “stay in your lane” and reassuring the public that “we’re good over here.”
This isn’t the first time Ayesha Curry has drawn criticism for her public comments. In fact, there’s a decade-long pattern of viral moments where her words sparked backlash.
In 2023, she appeared on The Real talk show, where a shirtless waiter entered the set. Ayesha jokingly removed her wedding ring in front of the cameras. Though it was clearly meant as light-hearted humor, many viewers were offended, seeing it as disrespectful to Steph.
The most infamous moment, however, dates back to 2019, when she appeared on Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith. In that interview, she admitted feeling insecure because she didn’t receive male attention — unlike her husband, who constantly gets it. She said it made her wonder if something was wrong with her. While she clarified that she didn’t want male attention, she said it would be nice to feel noticed. That comment didn’t sit well with the internet. Memes exploded online, and many accused her of being ungrateful or attention-seeking.
Even Steph’s mother, Sonya Curry, who was present during the interview, gently warned Ayesha that this kind of thinking could be “dangerous.” Ayesha defended her comments, saying she was being vulnerable and honest, and Steph also stood by her, praising her courage for speaking out.
Further back, during the 2016 NBA Finals, Ayesha tweeted that the league was “rigged for money or ratings” after a controversial game. The tweet went viral instantly, putting Steph in an awkward position during a critical moment of his career. Though she later apologized, it contributed to a growing perception of Ayesha as someone who speaks impulsively and publicly, sometimes to her husband’s detriment.
Critics argue that Ayesha doesn’t fully understand how privileged her life is — or at least, she struggles to express gratitude while speaking about her personal frustrations. She’s married to a man worth nearly $240 million, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Together, they live a life most people only dream about. Beyond that, Ayesha herself has built a $50 million brand through restaurants, cookbooks, lifestyle products, and her own show on the Food Network. And yet, her public comments often focus on what she feels she’s missing — not what she has.
This disconnect is what frustrates many people. It’s not that Ayesha Curry isn’t allowed to feel overwhelmed, insecure, or conflicted. Everyone, regardless of fame or wealth, can struggle. But when you speak to a public audience, how you frame those struggles matters. Millions of everyday women truly do sacrifice their careers for family without the support system, wealth, or opportunities Ayesha has. So when someone in her position speaks of “sacrifice,” it can come across as tone-deaf — even if unintentionally.
At the same time, it’s important to recognize the challenges of living in the spotlight. Being married to someone as famous as Steph Curry isn’t easy. Every word, every action, gets dissected by the public. Ayesha has spoken about how Steph sometimes doesn’t fully understand the toll that public scrutiny takes on her — he shrugs off criticism, while she internalizes it. This emotional disconnect is common in relationships, but it becomes magnified when lived out in front of millions.
