But, Keegan Murray and Keon Ellis are two players the Warriors “would likely want in a potential sign-and-trade.”

According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Sacramento Kings are actively pursuing Jonathan Kuminga, hoping to land the explosive young forward in a package built around rookie Devin Carter, veteran forward Dario Šarić, and a protected first-round pick.

But there’s a problem: the Golden State Warriors don’t seem interested — at least not in that deal.

League sources indicate that while the Kings are serious about acquiring Kuminga, the Warriors would likely want more impactful assets in return — namely Keegan Murray and Keon Ellis — two of Sacramento’s most promising young pieces.

The Kuminga Conundrum

Kuminga, 22, is coming off a breakout season with the Warriors, where he averaged nearly 19 points per game, flashing elite athleticism, two-way versatility, and star-level potential. He’s considered one of Golden State’s most valuable young assets — and possibly the bridge to the post-Curry era.

With growing trade interest around the league, the Warriors are being extremely cautious. They’re not looking to offload Kuminga unless the return helps them win now — or nets them a young star who fits their long-term plans.

A package of Carter (a rookie yet to play an NBA game), Šarić (who was already with the Warriors last season and played a limited role), and a protected first-round pick doesn’t move the needle for Golden State.

Warriors’ Counter Interest: Keegan Murray, Keon Ellis

The report suggests Golden State would only seriously consider engaging in talks with Sacramento if Keegan Murray — the 4th overall pick in 2022 and a rising two-way forward — is on the table. Keon Ellis, an elite perimeter defender who has drawn praise for his energy and toughness, is also a player Golden State reportedly values.

Murray’s combination of size, shooting, and defensive upside makes him an ideal fit alongside Stephen Curry in the Warriors’ system. But sources close to the Kings say they’re reluctant to move him, viewing Murray as a foundational piece alongside De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

That creates a stalemate — for now.

What’s Next?

Sacramento appears eager to take a win-now step, and Kuminga would fit perfectly into that vision — giving them athleticism, youth, and playoff upside. But unless they sweeten the offer, Golden State is likely to walk away.

“If the Warriors trade Kuminga, it won’t be for role players and draft protections,” said an anonymous Western Conference executive. “They want real talent back — or they’ll just keep him.”

As the offseason continues to heat up, all eyes are now on Sacramento: Will they push harder for Kuminga? Or will Golden State hold firm — keeping their rising star or flipping him only in a true blockbuster?
