Hours after posting, the reality star shared a video on Instagram, pleading with blogs and media outlets to refrain from posting information about the tragedy until she could speak to her children.

“I understand that blogs have a job to do,” she said tearfully. “But I just ask respectfully that you guys refrain from posting information until I do… I don’t want my kids to find out at school before I can tell them.”

Shortly after, Kalysha issued a formal statement to The Shade Room:

“It is with profound sadness that I confirm the tragic and unexpected passing of my spouse and father of my beautiful daughters, Jamar Champ. During this incredibly challenging time, I kindly ask for respect and understanding as our family comes together to support one another and honor his memory.”

According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred around 12:05 a.m. when a silver BMW was driving the wrong way on the freeway and collided head-on with a silver Tesla Cybertruck, which was later confirmed to be driven by Jamar Champ.

The impact caused the BMW to catch fire and pushed the Cybertruck into a semi-truck. The BMW driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Champ was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. The 66-year-old semi-truck driver was unharmed.
