The Golden State Warriors want Ryan Dunn included in any trade deal for Jonathan Kuminga with the Phoenix Suns.
As the NBA offseason heats up, trade talks between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns have taken a new turn. According to league sources, the Warriors are making it clear: Ryan Dunn must be included in any trade package involving Jonathan Kuminga.
Golden State is reportedly high on Dunn, the 2024 first-round pick out of Virginia known for his elite defensive instincts, versatility, and athleticism. The Warriors view Dunn as a perfect fit for their system — a modern-day version of the defensive wings they’ve thrived with in the past, such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.
Jonathan Kuminga, once considered a cornerstone for the Warriors’ post-Curry era, has shown flashes of brilliance but struggled with consistency. With Stephen Curry nearing the end of his prime and the front office looking to reshape the roster, Golden State is open to moving Kuminga — but only for the right return.
The Suns, on the other hand, are seeking to add young talent and athleticism around their veteran core of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. Kuminga’s upside and explosive style have caught Phoenix’s attention, but Golden State is holding firm: no Ryan Dunn, no deal.
While Dunn is still unproven at the NBA level, his defensive upside and high motor make him a tantalizing prospect for a Warriors team that’s looking to rebuild its identity around effort and versatility.
Trade talks remain ongoing, but one thing is certain — the Warriors are not willing to part with Kuminga unless they get a defensive gem like Dunn in return.
