Abandoned, Broken, But Not Alone: The Rescue of a Forgotten Puppy
It was a nightmare.
The kind that haunts you long after it’s over.
A report came in — someone had found a tiny puppy abandoned near a local market. He was just lying there. Alone. Helpless. His body covered in wounds and bruises, his eyes pleading for help.
Thankfully, help came quickly.
“I can’t believe he’s still alive,” the rescuer whispered, lifting the frail pup gently. His body was riddled with injuries, inflammation, and infection. Despite it all, he remained calm — even friendly — as though still trusting of the humans who had failed him.
He was just a baby.

His body told a story of unimaginable neglect. Cuts, bruises, swelling. Pain in every limb. Yet his eyes still shone with life.
We carefully placed him in a carrier and took him to safety. It was time to give him a chance.
At the veterinary clinic, the doctors began their evaluations. The inflammation was severe. His limbs were tender to the touch. The vet suspected a dislocation or break but couldn’t perform an X-ray immediately — the area was too swollen and infected. Antibiotics would need to work first. Only after 5 to 7 days of treatment could they reassess.
Meanwhile, his body needed nourishment. He was dehydrated and dangerously underweight, even more so than other dogs rescued before. The team began feeding him small portions of high-nutrition recovery food, combined with fresh ingredients like beef and chicken. It was likely the first proper meal he’d had in days — maybe ever.
And he loved it.
After eating, he nestled into his bed with contentment. For the first time in who knows how long, he felt safe… and full.
But this was only the beginning of his journey.
As his body began to stabilize, the vet team took X-rays. The diagnosis was painful to hear. His left leg was dislocated — the bones misaligned and rigid. Worse still, there was a fracture near his spine, compressing key areas. While he still had control over urination and bowel movement — a hopeful sign — the injury was serious. Surgery might be necessary, but only after he gained strength.
The days that followed were filled with careful treatment, warm meals, and gentle care. His body slowly began to heal, but the emotional toll he had endured would take time, too. Despite his suffering, he remained sweet and trusting, melting the hearts of everyone around him.
His caregivers dubbed him a little fighter.
A survivor.
Every heat pack applied, every meal devoured, every moment of rest brought him closer to recovery. His spirit never wavered. With each passing day, he seemed more alive, more present — like he knew he had a second chance and was ready to take it.
He isn’t just a rescue.
He’s a reminder — of resilience, of compassion, and of the power of love when everything else is lost.
The road ahead is long. There may still be surgery, rehabilitation, and more challenges. But he’s no longer alone.
He has a team behind him now. And someday soon, we hope — a family, too.
