Miley Cyrus vs Dua Lipa: The Feud Nobody Talks About
Behind the glittering lights of global fame and chart-topping hits, a quiet tension has been simmering between two of pop’s biggest names: Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa. While both artists collaborated on the sultry 2020 hit “Prisoner,” sources say their relationship behind the scenes has been far from harmonious — and now, the signs are becoming harder to ignore.
Despite their public image as empowering, boundary-breaking women in music, insiders suggest that creative clashes, competitive egos, and subtle social media shade have led to a rift between the two stars — a feud the industry has largely kept under wraps… until now.
The Beginning: Collaboration or Competition?
When “Prisoner” dropped, fans were ecstatic. The dark, synth-heavy track was seen as a bold blend of Dua’s disco-pop style and Miley’s rebellious rock persona. But according to a former producer on the project, tensions emerged almost immediately.
“They had different visions,” the producer revealed anonymously. “Miley wanted raw, chaotic energy. Dua wanted polish. They respected each other — but there was definitely creative friction.”
Behind the scenes, arguments over the music video’s direction and last-minute changes to vocals reportedly led to passive-aggressive exchanges and, ultimately, a cold professionalism on set.
Subtle Snubs and Social Silence
After the single’s release, many fans expected continued collaboration — or at least public support. Instead, things got oddly quiet.
Miley didn’t promote Dua’s Future Nostalgia Tour, despite publicly praising other artists like Harry Styles and Lil Nas X. Meanwhile, Dua notably left Miley out of a 2023 list she gave of women in music who’ve inspired her — despite naming Billie Eilish, Madonna, and even newer artists like Olivia Rodrigo.
Fans began to notice the distance. One viral TikTok from 2024 titled “Why Don’t Miley & Dua Talk Anymore?” racked up over 3 million views, compiling clips of the two dodging questions about each other in interviews and awkward red carpet run-ins.
A Quiet Competition
While no direct shots have been fired, the competition between them seems to have only intensified. When Miley released her Grammy-winning album Endless Summer Revival in 2024, Dua followed soon after with her own critically acclaimed record Velvet Machine. Both albums explored themes of independence, reinvention, and artistic freedom — and both seemed to subtly claim ownership of the “female rockstar narrative.”
One lyric from Miley’s song “Shadow Queen” raised eyebrows:
“She dances in glitter, but never gets dirty / I walk through fire, it makes me worthy.”
Many took this as a subtle jab at Dua’s more polished image.
Is There Hope for Reconciliation?
Despite the cold war vibes, those close to both camps say the feud is more about creative rivalry than personal animosity. “They’re not enemies,” one insider explained. “They’re just two powerhouses who don’t like sharing the stage.”
And as Dua and Miley continue to evolve as artists, fans can only hope they’ll eventually find common ground again — maybe even in a future collaboration.
Until then, the pop world watches… and listens closely.
