Los Angeles, CA – Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B had another fiery day in court as she took the stand for the second time in a civil trial that has captured national attention. The case, brought by former security guard Imani Ellis, accuses the Bronx-born superstar of assault, harassment, and causing her termination after a heated altercation outside an OB-GYN office in Beverly Hills back in 2018.
The tension inside the Alhambra courthouse reached a boiling point when Cardi B, visibly frustrated under cross-examination, admitted bluntly:
“Yes, I was angry!”
A Clash Outside the Doctor’s Office
According to Ellis, Cardi B, who was visibly pregnant at the time, allegedly attacked her, striking her on the head, face, and body, spitting at her, and even shouting racial slurs. Ellis also claims Cardi B’s long acrylic nails left cuts on her face requiring plastic surgery, and that the rapper’s influence ultimately got her fired from her job.

For Cardi, the story was very different. She testified that Ellis was the aggressor, attempting to film her while she was entering the doctor’s office during a vulnerable moment.
“I was pregnant, I couldn’t protect myself even if I wanted to. She’s like twice my size,” Cardi told the jury. “I didn’t hit her, I didn’t swing at her. I just wanted her out of my face.”
Heated Exchange With Attorney
During the cross-examination, the plaintiff’s attorney pressed Cardi B on her language during the incident, including her use of profanity.
“You used the F-word during that fight, didn’t you?” the lawyer asked.
“Yes,” Cardi admitted.
When asked to repeat her exact words, the rapper snapped:
“My face—why are you in my face? Why are you recording me? Aren’t you supposed to be security?”
The courtroom grew tense when the attorney urged her to say the words directly to Ellis, prompting an immediate objection that was sustained by the judge.

Cardi B Fights Back
Cardi’s defense has consistently painted the lawsuit as a money grab. On the stand, she doubled down:
“She’s trying to get some money… She’s suing me for $25 million.”
Ellis, meanwhile, broke down describing the altercation as “traumatizing,” insisting that the rapper’s actions left permanent emotional and physical scars.
What’s Next
With the courthouse now on recess through Labor Day, the trial is set to resume next week. Legal experts note that the case hinges largely on credibility, with Cardi B insisting she never touched Ellis and Ellis painting herself as a victim of a celebrity’s wrath.
The outcome could cost Cardi tens of millions—or clear her name entirely.
