San Diego Babysitter Sentenced to 100 Years in Prison in Horrific Child Abuse Case

San Diego was rocked this week by one of the most disturbing child abuse cases the county has ever seen. Brittney Mae Lyon, a babysitter who once marketed her services online as a “loving caregiver,” was sentenced to 100 years in prison after being found guilty of handing over children as young as 3 years old to her boyfriend so he could sexually assault them.

Inside the courtroom, Lyon broke down in tears as the judge delivered the crushing sentence. But for the families of her victims—many of whom had no idea their children had been violated until police uncovered evidence—the display of emotion came far too late.

Authorities say the crimes stretched back years and involved multiple victims, including disabled and nonverbal children who were unable to cry out for help. Before the babysitting crimes came to light, Cabrera had already pressured Lyon into secretly recording women in locker rooms for his gratification. Prosecutors say the relationship escalated into something far darker as Lyon became the willing gatekeeper to the most vulnerable children under her care.

“This case is every parent’s nightmare,” the prosecutor told the court. “Parents trusted this babysitter to protect their children. Instead, she delivered them into the hands of a predator.”
