Lebanon police launched an investigation that led to an arrest after their police dog spotted a package and started whining at a guard at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The police dog, specially trained to detect drugs, explosives, and cash, wouldn’t back up from the package, becoming visibly agitated.

The package had passed all checks, but still, the dog’s behavior showed something wasn’t right.

This alarmed his handler who asked for the package to be inspected once again.

The box had small air holes—possibly vents, and custom officials alerted bomb squad who evacuated the area.

Once cleared of explosives, they opened the package that was coming from Kazakhstan and discovered a shocking sight—two visibly fragile and dehydrated tiger cubs.

They were hidden among grimy sawdust and could barely breath, enduring days without food and water.

When veterinarians claimed them, the cubs, whom they named Tobby and Sophie, were given a much-needed medical care.

Eventually, they were taken to a shelter where they recovered.

Authorities launched investigation that eventually led to an illegal sale from a zoo in Kazakhstan.

Wildlife smuggling has been a growing problem at the border, and this was no exception.

It was all thanks to the police dog that the two cubs were saved.
