FURIOUS Canada RESPONDS WITH FORCE after Trump THREAT
“Not Friends Anymore”: An Ally’s Lament Over a Troubling US Shift
The traditional bonds between the US and its closest neighbors and allies appear to be fraying, with recent actions by the Trump administration causing an uproar across the border in Canada and raising serious national security questions at home.
The week culminated with two particularly jarring developments: President Trump’s aggressive rhetoric toward Canadian sovereignty and its auto industry, followed by the announcement that the US military would host a Qatari Amiri Air Force facility at a US air base in Idaho, perilously close to the Canadian border.
The Borderline Betrayal: Qatar Over Canada?
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s announcement of the new Qatari facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho—intended to host F-15s and pilots for joint training—immediately ignited controversy. Critics, including former Canadian Parliament member Charlie Angus, point out the unprecedented nature of allowing a foreign military, especially one from the Middle East, such a forward-facing presence on US soil.
While US defense officials have clarified that this is a training and maintenance facility, not a standalone Qatari base, and similar arrangements exist with other allies like Singapore, the perception of prioritization is galling to Canada.
Angus argues that this move sends a profoundly disturbing message: that the US regime prefers the “Qatari gold and the 747 jets” to its oldest, most trusted northern partner. Canada, with its $4 trillion GDP, has fought “side by side with the United States against fascists war after war,” yet now faces threats to its core security relationships.
The Erosion of Trust: From Five Eyes to Adversary
The controversy over the Qatari facility comes against a backdrop of escalating threats to Canada’s critical security partnerships. The discussion highlights that Canada has traditionally been one of America’s most essential defense partners, deeply embedded in:
NORAD: The North American Aerospace Defense Command.
The Five Eyes: An elite intelligence alliance (US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand) built on an extraordinary degree of trust.
Yet, there has been talk from the Trump regime about kicking Canada out of both. Angus stresses that such an action would leave North America “defenseless” and cites past intelligence breaches—like the alleged disclosure of sensitive Israeli intelligence to Russia—as proof that the current US regime simply “can’t be trusted” with shared military and intelligence assets.
For Canada, the message is clear: the United States now views its long-time ally as an “adversary, a threat, some a country to be pushed around.”
Trump’s Canadian Claims and Melania’s Putin Channel
The Canadian fury was only amplified by President Trump’s Oval Office meeting with Prime Minister Carney. In addition to threatening Canada’s manufacturing belt and bragging that Canadians “love the United States,” Trump also bizarrely claimed to have saved “100,000 Canadian lives” by “blowing up Venezuelan fishing boats.” The claim, which involves potentially illegal military action against foreign vessels, was dismissed as a lie by the critics.
Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump’s announcement that she has an “open channel of communication” with Vladimir Putin regarding the welfare of children caught in the Russia-Ukraine conflict also raised alarm bells. While framed as a humanitarian effort that has led to the reunification of some children, critics see the unusual, back-channel diplomacy with a Russian leader under an ICC arrest warrant as further evidence of the regime’s alarming foreign policy priorities.
The Canadian “Elbows Up” Movement
The cumulative effect of these actions—disrespect in trade, threats to sovereignty, and the cavalier degradation of security alliances—is driving a grassroots Canadian backlash. Angus describes an “elbows up movement” in Canada, where the public is “beyond fed up” and pushing back harder than ever.
The once-traditional Canadian approach of being “nice to the drunk at the party” is running out of road. Canadians are not only willing to take “serious economic hits” to defend their sovereignty but are now rethinking their entire defense posture and intelligence-sharing protocols.
The resounding message from the North to the Trump regime is definitive: “We aren’t friends anymore. We get that.”
