Hollywood is mourning the loss of a true icon. Beloved actress Diane Keaton has passed away at the age of 79, leaving behind an irreplaceable mark on film and the hearts of her colleagues and fans alike.
Soon after the heartbreaking news broke, many of Diane’s friends and co-stars took to social media to share their emotional tributes.
Goldie Hawn, who starred alongside Keaton in The First Wives Club, wrote:
“We promised we’d grow old together and maybe one day live with all our girlfriends. We never got to live together, but we did grow older together. Who knows—maybe in the next life. Shine your fairy dust up there, girlfriend. I’m going to miss the hell out of you.”
Mandy Moore, who appeared with Keaton in Because I Said So (2007), shared:
“They say don’t meet your heroes, but I got to work with one of mine—and even call her ‘mom’ for a few months. It was the honor of a lifetime.”
Steve Martin, Keaton’s long-time collaborator and on-screen husband in Father of the Bride, paid tribute in his signature humorous yet heartfelt way. He reposted a quote from her 2021 Interview Magazine appearance where Martin Short asked her:
“Who’s sexier, me or Steve Martin?”
And Keaton hilariously replied:
“I mean, you’re both idiots.”
Steve captioned the post:
“Not sure who posted this first, but it perfectly sums up our delightful relationship with Diane.”
Bette Midler, another First Wives Club co-star, wrote:
“The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me.”
In a video captured by The Hollywood Reporter, Reese Witherspoon was seen getting emotional while paying tribute to Keaton at her Shine event:
“If you just close your eyes and think of Diane Keaton—from Annie Hall to The Godfather to Something’s Gotta Give—she was simply incredible.”
More than just a gifted actress, Diane Keaton was a symbol of intelligence, originality, and fearless independence.
Her legacy will live on—not only through her timeless performances but also through the grace, humor, and authenticity that made her one of Hollywood’s most beloved figures.
