Powell’s energy on set was pure excitement, not just for the late-night return but for the project he’s been pouring himself into. Chad Powers, developed with longtime friend Michael Waldron, had its premiere at the Rose Bowl — a fitting launch for a show that lives and breathes college football. “College football is a love language in my family,” Powell shared, noting that the cameo appearances from his parents and even football legend Eli Manning made the project feel like “full circle” for him.

The conversation with Kimmel was filled with laughs, especially as Powell recounted disguising himself in prosthetics for test runs, sneaking into public spaces unrecognized just to see how believable his character’s look was. His family’s involvement became another highlight, with Powell visibly moved when talking about a special scene his mother shot, which he said they practiced for weeks together.

Of course, Powell’s beloved dog Brisket also made his late-night debut, stealing hearts as much as his famous owner. “He’s one of those dogs who just smiles and wags his whole body,” Powell laughed, admitting he brings Brisket everywhere and the pup has become part of the adventure.
