After years away from Hollywood, Meghan Markle is stepping back into the spotlight — and back in front of the camera.

On November 5, multiple outlets confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex has quietly returned to acting, marking her first scripted role since leaving the British royal family in 2020.

According to reports, Meghan was recently spotted on set of an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios project titled Close Personal Friends, where she’ll play herself in a small cameo role.

The star-studded ensemble also includes Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding, and follows the story of two couples — one famous, one ordinary — whose friendship takes unexpected turns.

A source told People that Meghan appeared “relaxed and happy” on set:

“She has a small part. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down to earth.”

Meanwhile, The Sun, which first broke the story, cited a studio insider explaining Meghan’s decision to say yes to this specific project:

“She’s been swamped with offers, but this one felt right. It’s Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.”

The insider added that the entire production team had been “sworn to secrecy” about her involvement.

And of course, Prince Harry is said to be fully supportive.

“He just wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy,” the source revealed.

Meghan, now 44, left acting after announcing her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017. Her breakout role as Rachel Zane on the hit legal drama Suits made her an international name, but she departed the show ahead of their royal wedding.

In a 2022 interview with Variety, the Duchess insisted she was done with acting:

“No, I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”

Yet, true to her own words, “never say never.”
