When asked whether recent developments were the result of “political pressure or business and ratings,” Leno responded:

“I don’t know. I wasn’t there, I wasn’t in the room. But I think Jimmy will be fine. He’s a talented guy, he’s funny. Maybe he’ll be back on the air in just a couple of weeks. We’ll see.”

The former Tonight Show host emphasized that television, at its core, functions like any other marketplace:

“If you don’t like it, don’t watch. It’s that simple. That’s the market. Let the audience decide. If people like a show, it stays. If not, it disappears.”
