For decades, Jennifer Aniston has been the subject of relentless speculation about her personal life — particularly the question she was asked more times than she could count: “When are you going to have a baby?”
In her new interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, the 55-year-old actress finally opens up about the pain behind those headlines — revealing the truth about her private struggle with fertility and the years of failed IVF treatments that few ever knew about.
“They Didn’t Know My Story”
Aniston recalls how the scrutiny became so constant that she even parodied it herself in a 2004 “Saturday Night Live” sketch. But the laughter masked something deeper.
“They didn’t know my story or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family,” she shared. “The narrative that I didn’t want to have a baby — that I was selfish or too focused on my career — it did affect me. I’m just a human being.”
The emotional weight of that misconception, she admits, lingered for years.
A Lifelong Bond and Heartbreaking Loss
In the same interview, Aniston also reflected on the unbreakable connection she shares with her Friends castmates — and the grief of losing Matthew Perry in 2023, following his accidental drowning linked to a ketamine overdose.
“It’s heartbreaking that he had so many demons,” she said softly. “But for someone who had that much inner turmoil, he sure got to laugh a lot. And that was everything to him.”
The cast, who spent ten years together from 1994 to 2004, remain like family.
“I couldn’t wait to see those people,” Aniston said of her time on the show. “We’d film every Friday night, and right after we wrapped, we’d find the new script for Monday morning waiting in our dressing rooms. I was just as excited to find out what was going to happen as the audience was.”
Finding Peace and Gratitude
Today, Aniston says she has made peace with her journey — even the parts that didn’t turn out as she once hoped.
While the world may remember her as Rachel Green, the actress’s candid reflection reminds fans that behind every glossy headline is a person with untold stories and quiet battles.
“Is everybody else just having the best time?” she once joked — a line that now feels bittersweet.
