During the meeting held at the White House with the participation of many cabinet members, when officials took turns speaking about issues such as war, education, 401(k) retirement, and deregulation policy, the camera repeatedly captured the moment when Mr. Trump sat motionless with his eyes closed for quite a long time. This quickly raised suspicions that the former president had… fallen asleep in the middle of the important meeting.

Just a few hours later, America’s top late-night TV shows all “joined in”.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy Kimmel didn’t miss the opportunity to quip, “If you can sleep through that voice, how tired must you be?” He also recalled Trump’s vehement denial of a New York Times report that he cut back on his schedule because he was tired. Kimmel quipped, “This is a guy who doesn’t look tired?” before replaying a video of Trump closing his eyes during the meeting.

No less pointed, Stephen Colbert on The Late Show also dissected the controversial moment. Colbert joked that Trump might be closing his eyes to “focus,” then continued his sarcastic remarks that made the audience laugh. Colbert’s conclusion was short but meaningful: “And then… he fell asleep.”

Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show focused on another detail: Trump had posted more than 160 posts on the social network Truth Social in just one night, an average of more than one post per minute. Fallon jokingly said that “we all know his TV was on all night,” then continued sarcastically: “Surely staying up all night didn’t affect him in the cabinet meeting this morning.”

Fallon also did not forget to poke fun at Trump’s health with a series of jokes about “swollen fingers from posting too much,” making the audience laugh nonstop.

In response to the increasingly widespread wave of ridicule, the White House quickly spoke up. Responding to the New York Times, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt affirmed that the President was “fully awake, listening attentively and directly conducting the entire meeting,” denying any speculation about him falling asleep.

Although the White House has denied it, with the speed of social media spreading and the enthusiastic “response” from famous MCs, the moment Trump closed his eyes quickly became the hottest satirical topic of the week on American television, continuing to spark endless controversies surrounding his health and performance.
