Keanu Reeves just turned 61, and instead of slowing down, the beloved actor is still diving headfirst—sometimes quite literally—into his roles. During the filming of his upcoming comedy Good Fortune, Reeves revealed he cracked his kneecap “like a potato chip.”

“Comedy is hard,” Reeves joked in his signature deadpan tone. “It broke my kneecap.”

The accident happened while shooting alongside Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen in what marks Ansari’s directorial debut. The film, set to hit theaters on October 17, follows Reeves as a guardian angel trying to teach Ansari’s down-on-his-luck character that money isn’t everything.

Despite the painful injury, Reeves has fully healed and remains in good spirits. “My kneecap is healed. It’s doing good,” he said, giving fans a reassuring health update.

Ansari, meanwhile, praised working with Reeves and Rogen: “There were times when Keanu and Seth came over to my house, and we’d just sit around reading scenes, throwing in jokes. Then we’d take it to set, and it just worked.”

The lighthearted premise also gave Reeves a chance to playfully reflect on the idea of guardian angels. When asked if he believes in them, the star smirked: “If you believe in that, do you believe in the other side, too? I don’t know. Do you?”

Of course, no Keanu conversation is complete without a nod to his chemistry with longtime friend Sandra Bullock. When the interviewer teased about the two possibly reuniting onscreen after 31 years, Reeves grinned: “We’ll see. We’ll see. You’re an angel… in a movie.”
