On a laugh-filled episode of The Graham Norton Show, Kevin Hart completely lost his composure after Jodie Whittaker recalled a terrifying encounter with a poisonous spider while filming in South Africa.

Jodie Whittaker’s near-death scare

While shooting Doctor Who in South Africa, Jodie Whittaker found herself in what she described as a potentially life-threatening situation. The actress explained that a sac spider – a venomous species common in the region – crawled onto her body as she ran out of a building.

“No one told me anything,” Jodie recalled. “I ran out, and the spider followed me. When I realized, I panicked so much I tore off my costume. At that moment, I thought I was definitely going to die.”

As Jodie spiraled into fear, an English assistant director calmly picked up the spider and tossed it away. Later, she was shocked to learn that its bite could have been deadly.

Kevin Hart “breaks down” over hilarious detail

If the story itself was enough to make viewers shudder, Kevin Hart’s reaction turned it into pure comedy. When Jodie described the spider as having “poisonous balls,” Kevin erupted into uncontrollable laughter, nearly falling out of his chair.

“There are so many things wrong with this story,” Kevin said between laughs. “First of all, everybody filming it in the beginning was white. When it crawled on you and you screamed, they kept taping. And the guy who picked it up and threw it away? He was white too!”

The audience roared with laughter, while Graham Norton had to step in as Kevin’s over-the-top breakdown took over the show.

From horror to hilarity

The combination of Jodie Whittaker’s genuine fear and Kevin Hart’s comedic spin transformed what could have been a chilling story into one of the most memorable and laugh-out-loud moments on The Graham Norton Show.

Even though Jodie insisted it was “the scariest moment of my life,” Kevin managed to reframe it in a way that left everyone else in stitches.
