Over the weekend, Victoria posted a heartwarming Instagram Story showing the Christmas surprise she planned for David while he was away traveling.

“David has been away for a few days. He’s coming home,” she said as she filmed her decorations. “I’ve got the tree, and we are going to decorate. I want it to be a nice surprise for him.”

She showed off boxes of ornaments, lights, and the pastel color palette daughter Harper requested: pale pink and lilac. Within a few hours, Victoria had transformed the tree with shimmering ornaments, tinsel, and bright lights.

“The tree is ready,” she proudly announced. “Feeling like an overachiever—I can’t lie. It’s a big tree, and we have never been so ready for Christmas.”

But of course, David had the perfect comeback.

Moments after arriving home, he walked into the room and immediately channeled the viral meme from his Netflix documentary Beckham:

“Be honest,” he teased.

“What do you mean?” Victoria asked.

“Did you really do that tree?”

“Of course I did the tree!” she insisted.

“Be honest.”

Victoria doubled down, and David finally broke into a smile, calling her “Mrs. Claus” and telling her he loved the surprise.

The playful moment was a callback to the internet-famous scene from David’s 2023 Netflix docuseries, where he interrupted Victoria’s interview as she described her upbringing as “very working class.”

“Be honest,” David said at the time, eventually pressing her to admit that her dad drove her to school in a Rolls-Royce during the 1980s.

That scene nearly didn’t happen. In a later Q&A, David and director Fisher Stevens explained the behind-the-scenes chaos. It was Victoria’s first day filming. She was set up in the lounge with the dogs while Fisher assumed David had already left for the office.

But David was still in the kitchen making coffee — and he overheard everything through the crew’s headphones.

“As soon as I heard her say, ‘We’re very working class,’ I was like… no, no, no,” David laughed. He immediately poked his head into the shot.

Fisher admitted he was initially furious, thinking the interruption ruined the setup. But once he saw the footage, he realized they had “struck gold.”

“I did say, ‘We have gold here,’” the director recalled. “Thank God the cameraman caught David. It turned into a brilliant moment.”

And now, thanks to a Christmas tree and a perfectly timed joke, the Beckhams have gifted fans yet another viral “Be honest” moment.
