When it comes to naming their children, celebrities never fail to surprise. From heartfelt tributes to family legacies to full-blown creativity, Hollywood’s stars have made baby-naming an art form — and sometimes, a global conversation starter.
Trisha Paytas and Baby Aquaman
YouTube star Trisha Paytas has long embraced eccentricity, and her choice of baby names is no exception. The 37-year-old recently welcomed her third child, Aquaman Moses Paytas-Hacmon, born in July 2025. Yes, Aquaman — as in the superhero — is his legal name, not a nickname.

Paytas explained the inspiration on her Just Trish podcast:
“They put ‘Aqua’ on his little hospital card, and I was like, ‘No, it’s Aquaman!’ I said it loud and proud in the C-section room.”
Aquaman joins siblings Malibu Barbie (born September 2022) and Elvis (born May 2024). Each name feels like a tribute to pop culture, whimsy, and unapologetic fun — the Paytas brand in a nutshell.
Elon Musk & Grimes: The Code-Breaking Kids
Few names have sparked as much confusion as X Æ A-12, the son of Elon Musk and Grimes. Born on May the 4th (naturally), Musk broke down the pronunciation on The Joe Rogan Experience:
“It’s just ‘X,’ the letter X. The ‘Æ’ is pronounced ‘Ash,’ and ‘A-12’ — that was my contribution. It’s a nod to Archangel-12, the precursor to the SR-71, the coolest plane ever.”
The couple later welcomed daughter Exa Dark Sideræl and son Techno Mechanicus — names that sound more like AI projects than toddlers, but perfectly match their parents’ cosmic aesthetic.
Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin: Meet Apple
Before “unique baby names” became trendy, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin shocked the world in 2004 by naming their daughter Apple. On The Oprah Winfrey Show, Paltrow shared the story behind the sweet moniker:
“Her dad said one day, ‘If it’s a girl, I think her name should be Apple.’ It sounded so sweet and clean and wholesome — it just felt perfect.”
Despite initial public backlash, “Apple” paved the way for the era of creative celebrity baby naming. Their son Moses, born in 2006, followed with a more traditional biblical tone.
Kim Kardashian & Kanye West: A Directional Legacy
When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West revealed their first child’s name — North West — in 2013, fans thought it was a joke. But Kim defended the choice on Keeping Up with the Kardashians:
“It’s pretty and cool. It’s not tomboyish — it just works.”
The couple later welcomed Saint (2015), Chicago (2018), and Psalm (2019), solidifying their reign as Hollywood’s boldest baby namers. Kim’s sister Kylie Jenner followed suit with her own children: Stormi (2018) and Aire (2022) — though “Aire” was originally named “Wolf” before Kylie had a change of heart.

In a Wall Street Journal interview, Kylie admitted:
“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I couldn’t think straight — I felt like a failure for not naming him right away.”
Even Kim sympathized: “Naming a child is the hardest decision ever.”
Beyoncé & Jay-Z: The Royal Blueprint
When Beyoncé announced her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV VMAs, the world went wild. But when she and Jay-Z revealed their daughter’s name — Blue Ivy Carter — they created instant cultural shorthand for cool.
Jay-Z later told CBS Mornings that Blue is starting to see him as a little cooler:
“She used to front on me a bit, but now she asks me for sneaker advice. She’s come around.”
The couple’s twins, Rumi and Sir, born in 2017, continued the lyrical, regal naming tradition.
Hollywood’s Ongoing Obsession
From Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s poetic Shiloh to Cardi B and Offset’s musically inspired Kulture and Wave Set, unconventional names have become a Hollywood hallmark.
Most recently, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly welcomed a daughter named Saga Blade Fox Baker — a name as fierce and mysterious as her parents’ aesthetic.
Whether it’s mythic (Aquaman), futuristic (Techno Mechanicus), or simply sweet (Apple), one thing is clear: Hollywood parents are rewriting the baby-naming rulebook.
Because in the celebrity world, even your name has to make headlines.
