In her most personal project yet, Victoria Beckham is opening up about a battle she kept hidden for years. The fashion designer and former Spice Girl speaks candidly about her struggles with an eating disorder in her new Netflix docuseries, released on October 9 — offering fans a rare glimpse behind the glamorous façade that defined her for decades.

“When you have an eating disorder, you become very good at lying,” Victoria admits in the series. “I was never honest about it with my parents. I never talked about it publicly. It really affects you when you’re constantly being told, ‘You’re not good enough.’”

A Moment That Changed Everything

Victoria recalls one particularly painful experience — being weighed on national television just six months after giving birth to her first son, Brooklyn Beckham. She was only 24 at the time.

“Get on those scales on television. ‘Have you lost the weight?’ they said,” she remembers. “We laughed about it on air, but I was really young — and that hurt.”

The Toll of Public Scrutiny

Her husband, David Beckham, appears in the documentary to share how media criticism impacted his wife’s confidence.

“My Victoria — the one I knew — sat at home in a tracksuit, smiling, laughing, having a glass of wine,” he says. “That started to fade because of the constant criticism she was getting.”

Victoria admits she began to turn that pressure inward. Unable to control the tabloids or the paparazzi’s lenses, she sought control elsewhere — through her weight and her wardrobe.

“I didn’t know what I saw when I looked in the mirror,” she confides. “Was I overweight? Was I thin? I don’t know. You lose all sense of reality.”

She adds, “I’d been everything from Porky Posh to Skinny Posh. It was a lot — and it’s hard. I couldn’t control what was written about me, but I could control my body. And I was doing that in an incredibly unhealthy way.”

Family and Healing

The series also captures a significant family moment — the world premiere in London, attended by David and their children Romeo, Cruz, and Harper Beckham. Notably absent was Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, amid ongoing rumors of a family rift.

Despite the tension, Victoria addressed all her children by name in her speech, ending with a heartfelt thank-you to her husband of 25 years.

The 51-year-old also received an outpouring of support from close friends and former Spice Girls bandmates Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Melanie Chisholm, as well as fellow fashion insider Eva Longoria, who appears in the docuseries.

Breaking the Silence

By finally sharing her story, Victoria Beckham joins a growing number of women in the spotlight reclaiming their narratives from decades of body-shaming and tabloid cruelty.

“I really started to doubt myself and not like myself,” she says quietly. “Because I let it affect me.”

Now, through vulnerability and reflection, she’s finding a new kind of power — one rooted not in perfection, but in truth.
