Taylor Swift is shutting down the rumors — and doing it with her signature charm and confidence.

As her Showgirl era takes over the world, the global superstar sat down with several radio outlets this week to promote her smash 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. During her stops, Swift opened up about her creative process, her friendship with Selena Gomez, and the fan-fueled rumors that she might quit music after marrying fiancé Travis Kelce.

Taylor on Her “Showgirl” Era and Songwriting

While chatting with SiriusXM’s The Morning Mashup (aired October 6), Taylor discussed why she chose to include more explicit lyrics in her new music.

“If it improves the intensity of the moment — or even the rhythm — I’ll use it,” she said. “Some words just pop more, or fit the way the character I’m cosplaying in that song would talk. That’s what I love about songwriting — those choices are fun, and sometimes hilarious to make.”

She even joked about the cheeky double meaning of her song “Wood” — and how her mom, Andrea Swift, reacted when she first heard it.

“I think she believes it’s about superstitions,” Taylor laughed. “Which, it absolutely is. That’s the beauty of a double entendre — people see what they want to see in that song.”

Selena Gomez’s Wedding and a Full-Circle Moment

Taylor also reflected on her best friend Selena Gomez’s wedding day, calling it “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

She tied the moment back to her now-iconic 2023 “Independence Day for Single Girlies” post — which, coincidentally, came right before she met Travis Kelce.

“It’s kind of wild,” she said. “That post was just me and a bunch of girls celebrating being single — and then right after, a lot of us, including Selena and me, found our person. It’s surreal.”

Taylor added warmly,

“Selena was just the most beautiful bride, but beyond that, the most beautiful soul. She deserves every bit of happiness.”

Addressing the Rumors: “Absolutely Not My Last Album”

Appearing later on BBC Radio 2, the Grammy winner directly addressed viral fan theories that she’d stop making music after her wedding to Travis Kelce.

“What? No!” she laughed. “I just saw some fans saying, ‘She’s going to get married and have kids — this is her last album.’ That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say. Absolutely not. That’s not why people get married!”

Swift continued, explaining that her relationship with Kelce has only deepened her passion for music:

“I love the person I’m with because he loves what I do. He loves how fulfilled I am by making art and music. That’s the coolest thing about Travis — he’s so passionate about what he does, and that connects us. There’s no world where he’d ever be upset that I’m still making music.”

On the Parallels Between Football and Performing

Taylor also drew a clever comparison between her career and Kelce’s life on the field:

“We both, as a job and as a passion, perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums,” she said. “When I’m there, it’s a dressing room. For him, it’s a locker room. For me, it’s rehearsal. For him, it’s practice. For me, it’s a show. For him, it’s a game. We just call them different things.”

Smiling, she added:

“We both have teams. We’re both competitive in fun ways. We just love what we do.”
