Caitlin Clark Criticizes WNBA Legends for Looking Like Amateurs
After a brief absence, Caitlin Clark made a spectacular return to the court, delivering arguably the best performance of her WNBA career and powering the Indiana Fever to a statement win over the reigning champions, the New York Liberty. The victory not only handed Liberty their first loss of the 2025 season but also marked a turning point for the Fever’s campaign.
A Comeback to Remember
Heading into the game, Indiana Fever were struggling with a 4-5 record and faced the daunting task of taking on the undefeated Liberty, who boasted a perfect 9-0 start to the season. In their previous encounter, the Fever suffered a heartbreaking loss, with Clark clearly fouled on the final play but receiving no call from the officials.
This time, Clark left nothing to chance. From the opening minutes, she showcased her elite playmaking and scoring ability, orchestrating Indiana’s offense and setting the tone with her aggressive drives and pinpoint passing. Her influence was immediate, threading no-look assists and attacking the basket with confidence.
Historic Performance
The highlight of Clark’s night came late in the first quarter, when she exploded for nine points in under 30 seconds, draining three consecutive deep three-pointers and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. By halftime, Clark had already racked up 25 points, including six three-pointers, along with five rebounds and three assists.
But Clark wasn’t alone—her teammates stepped up as well. Kelsey Mitchell contributed 22 points, Lexie Hull added 14, and Aaliyah Boston delivered a double-double, dominating on both ends of the floor. Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham also made key plays, helping Indiana build and maintain their lead.
Liberty’s Superstars Respond, But Not Enough
On the other side, New York’s stars did everything they could to keep their team in the game. Sabrina Ionescu led all scorers with 34 points, while Breanna Stewart chipped in 24. Despite their efforts and several Liberty runs, Indiana’s relentless offense and tight defense proved too much.
In the third quarter, the Fever went on a remarkable 19-0 run, turning the game on its head and opening up a double-digit lead. Clark continued to dazzle, hitting deep threes and finding open teammates, while Boston and Mitchell delivered in crunch time.
A Statement Win for Indiana
The Fever finished with their first 100-point game of the season, defeating the Liberty in blowout fashion. Clark came just shy of a triple-double, finishing with 32 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in 31 minutes. The win brought Indiana back to a .500 record after 10 games and injected new life into their season.
For Liberty, the loss was a reality check, but Ionescu and Stewart’s performances showed why they remain championship favorites.
