Space Dreams: The Secret Genius in the Kitchen
Prologue: The Game That Started It All
When Elon Musk invited his chef’s daughter to play Space Dreams on his tablet, 10-year-old Arya Chun’s heart nearly stopped. The world’s most famous inventor was praising the game, and he had no idea the shy girl sitting beside him had built it herself.
Arya had been hiding behind a fake grown-up name for months, too scared to tell anyone a fourth grader had created the internet’s most popular kids’ game. But what would happen when Elon discovered the truth? And would Arya find the courage to reveal her secret before it was too late?

Scene 1: Secrets in the Kitchen
Arya pressed her back against the cool kitchen wall, trying to make herself invisible. Her mom, Maya, moved around the huge kitchen like a dancer, chopping vegetables and stirring three different pots at once. The air was thick with the scent of garlic and ginger.
“Almost done, sweetheart,” Maya called over her shoulder. “Just let me finish Mr. Musk’s dinner.”
Arya nodded, pulling her knees up to her chest. She loved coming to work with her mom after school. Mr. Musk’s house was like something from a sci-fi movie: robots vacuumed the floors, and computers answered your questions if you spoke out loud. But today felt different. The kitchen was bigger than their whole apartment back home. Shiny pots hung from the ceiling, and the refrigerator was taller than her dad had been.
Arya tried not to think about her dad, who had died in a car accident when she was seven. Now it was just her and Mom.
“Arya?” She looked up to see the most famous person in the world standing in the doorway. Elon Musk held a silver tablet, grinning.
“Hi, Mr. Musk,” Arya whispered. Even after six months of her mom working there, she still felt shy around him.
“I found something amazing on my tablet today,” he said, walking closer. “Want to see?”
Arya’s heart started beating faster. The richest man in the world wanted to show her something. She scrambled up and nodded.
“It’s a game called Space Dreams,” Mr. Musk said, holding out the tablet. “Have you ever heard of it?”
Arya’s mouth went dry. She knew that game very well. “Um, I think so,” she managed.
“Here, come sit with me in the living room. Maya, can you spare Arya for a few minutes?”
“Of course,” Maya smiled. “Go have fun.”
Scene 2: The Game That Changed Everything
Arya followed Mr. Musk through a hallway lined with pictures of rockets and Mars. Her hands felt sweaty. When they reached the living room, Mr. Musk patted the seat next to him.
“This game is incredible,” he said, opening the app. “Look at this.”
The screen showed a little girl with pigtails standing next to a cardboard rocket ship. Behind her was a backyard that looked like Arya’s own, but with a telescope pointing up at a sky full of stars.
“You play as Luna, a girl who dreams of visiting other planets,” Mr. Musk explained, tapping the screen. “She builds rockets out of everyday things like cardboard boxes and bottle caps.”
Arya watched Luna’s rocket take off, soaring past clouds and into space. The music was soft and dreamy, like a lullaby about flying.
“Each planet has different puzzles to solve,” Mr. Musk continued, guiding Luna’s rocket to a purple planet covered in crystal trees. “On this planet, you have to figure out how plants can grow without sunlight.”
Arya bit her lip. She remembered spending weeks working on that puzzle, researching how plants actually worked, making sure kids would learn real science while playing.
“The person who made this really understands how kids think,” Mr. Musk said, solving the plant puzzle by connecting underground root systems to glowing crystals. “Most games for children are just bright colors and loud noises, but this one makes you think.”
They played together for twenty minutes. Mr. Musk helped Luna build a rocket to the ice planet, where they had to figure out how water could exist in three different forms, then visited the desert planet and learned about solar power.
“This is the best educational game I’ve ever played,” Mr. Musk said as Luna’s rocket landed back in her backyard. “Whoever made this is a genius. I wish I could meet them.”
Arya’s chest felt tight, like she couldn’t breathe. She wanted to tell him the truth so badly, but the words were stuck in her throat.
“What do you think, Arya?” Mr. Musk asked, looking at her with kind eyes. “Pretty cool, right?”
“Yeah,” Arya whispered. “Really cool.”
But inside, she was screaming: I made it. I built every planet, wrote every line of code, and drew every picture. Instead, she just sat there, holding the biggest secret of her life.
Scene 3: A Secret Grows
That night, after dinner, Arya and Maya drove home to their small apartment. The sun was setting, painting the sky orange and purple, like one of Arya’s space drawings.
“How was school today?” Maya asked at a red light.
“Fine,” Arya said quietly, staring out the window.
Maya sighed. Arya always said school was fine, but Maya knew better. Other kids didn’t understand Arya, who would rather code on her laptop than play with dolls. Maya had felt like an outsider herself, moving to America from Taiwan twelve years ago, pregnant and barely speaking English. But she had worked hard. Now she had the best job she could imagine—cooking for Elon Musk.
“Sweetheart,” Maya said as they parked. “You seemed excited after playing that game with Mr. Musk. Do you want to tell me about it?”
Arya unbuckled her seatbelt but didn’t get out. “Mom, can I ask you something?”
“Always.”
“When you were little, did you ever have a secret that felt too big to tell anyone?”
Maya’s heart squeezed. “What kind of secret, baby?”
“Like something good you did, but you were scared people wouldn’t believe you.”
Maya turned in her seat. Arya’s eyes were serious and scared.
“I think everyone has secrets like that sometimes,” Maya said carefully. “Why do you ask?”
Arya was quiet for a long moment. “What if you did something really important, but you used a fake name so people wouldn’t know it was you?”
“Why would someone do that?”
“Maybe because they thought people would treat them differently if they knew the truth.”
Maya felt a chill. For three months, Arya had been waking up extra early to type on her computer, drawing rockets and planets during dinner. Maya had thought it was a school project. But now she wondered if it was something bigger.
Scene 4: Discovery
The next morning, Arya checked Space Dreams on her tablet at lunch. The download counter showed 52,847—over 20,000 more than yesterday. The comments were pouring in:
“My 6-year-old daughter keeps asking how rockets really work. Pure genius. Who is Dr. Z Wilson?”
“Finally found a game that teaches my son about science without him even realizing it.”
Dr. Z Wilson was Arya’s fake name. She’d used it because she thought no one would take a game seriously if they knew it was made by a 10-year-old.
At school, her best friend Andrew slid into the seat across from her. “You have to see this amazing thing I found,” he said, opening his tablet. “It’s called Space Dreams. Even my big sister loves it!”
Arya’s heart pounded. “What do you think of it?” she asked.
“It’s genius,” Andrew said. “I bet the creator works for NASA or something.”
Arya hesitated, then whispered, “Andrew, I made that game.”
He stared, then laughed—until Arya showed him the code, her drawings, and the developer dashboard. His jaw dropped. “Oh my gosh, Arya, this is real.”
“Promise not to tell anyone,” she begged.
Andrew nodded, beaming. “You’re like a superhero. You made something that’s making kids all over the world excited about science.”
For the first time in days, Arya felt a tiny bit of hope. Maybe her secret wasn’t something to be ashamed of after all.
Scene 5: The Truth Comes Out
That evening, at Mr. Musk’s house, Maya noticed Arya’s laptop open on the kitchen island. She wasn’t one to snoop, but the screen showed the developer dashboard for Space Dreams, with over 81,000 downloads. Maya’s hands shook as she saw folders labeled “My Drawings” and “Planet Research.” Her daughter was the mysterious Dr. Z Wilson.
Upstairs, Mr. Musk was having his own revelation. He’d spent the night digging through the game’s code, noticing playful comments like:
// This part makes Luna’s rocket go whoosh!
// add extra sparkles here because sparkles make everything better
// mom always says to write comments
He found a tiny digital signature: Made with love by Arya C., Age 10, for all the kids who dream of flying to the stars.
Mr. Musk sat back, amazed. The shy girl in his kitchen had created something incredible.
Scene 6: The Big Reveal
The next morning, Arya could barely eat. She’d decided to tell Mr. Musk the truth. Maya squeezed her hand as they arrived at the house.
Mr. Musk greeted them, grinning. “Arya, Maya, perfect timing! The game has been downloaded over 100,000 times now. TV shows want to interview Dr. Z Wilson. The world wants to know who this genius is.”
Arya took a deep breath. “Mr. Musk, I need to tell you something important.”
He turned, listening.
“The game Space Dreams—I made it. Dr. Z Wilson is me. I used a fake name because I didn’t think anyone would play a game made by a 10-year-old.”
Mr. Musk stared, then broke into delighted laughter. “I knew it! I spent half the night looking at the code, thinking, ‘This reminds me so much of Arya!’ Arya, you’re incredible. Do you know what you’ve accomplished?”
Maya stepped forward, beaming with pride. “I found out last night. I’ve never been more amazed by my daughter.”
Mr. Musk looked at them both. “Now, we need to talk about what comes next. Arya, I have some ideas I think you’re going to love.”
Scene 7: Dreams Grow Bigger
Mr. Musk showed Arya and Maya a plan for Future Builder Academy—a place where kids could learn coding, robotics, and science after school. He wanted Space Dreams to be the first official game, and Arya to help design more.
Arya’s eyes widened. “You want me to make more games?”
“Only if you want to,” Mr. Musk said. “With better resources, you could build anything you can imagine.”
Maya voiced her concern about Arya needing to be a kid, too. Mr. Musk agreed: “No tests, no grades, just kids following their curiosity. And you can choose whether to keep your identity private or go public as the creator.”
Arya thought about it, then nodded. “I want to help other kids like me—kids who feel different because they love science and building things.”
Mr. Musk smiled. “Then you’re already thinking like someone who’s going to change the world.”
Scene 8: Sharing Her Story
Three weeks later, Arya sat in front of a video camera, ready to tell the world the truth. She looked into the lens, her mom nearby.
“Hi, my name is Arya Chun and I’m 10 years old. I created the game Space Dreams. I used the name Dr. Z Wilson because I was afraid nobody would play a game made by a kid. But Mr. Musk taught me that your age doesn’t matter when you have big dreams and work hard.”
She held up her old laptop. “I made this game on my mom’s computer. The best part isn’t that it’s famous—it’s that kids say it made them excited about science and space. If you have big dreams, start working on them today. Being different isn’t something to hide. It’s something to celebrate.”
The video went viral. Kids and parents from all over the world sent messages. Arya’s story inspired others to start coding, inventing, and believing in themselves.
Scene 9: A New Beginning
Six months later, Arya walked through the doors of Future Builder Academy. Kids were building robots, programming games, and solving real-world problems. Arya’s friend Andrew showed her his new app, Ocean Heroes, inspired by her tutorials.
Letters from kids around the world covered the walls, thanking Arya for inspiring them. Mr. Musk smiled at her. “You didn’t just help a few kids. You started a movement.”
Arya looked around at all the happy, creative kids. For the first time, she felt like she truly belonged.
She opened her laptop at her new desk, ready to work on her next project: a game called Dream Builders, where kids from different countries could team up to solve challenges facing their communities.
Arya’s journey from hiding her gifts to inspiring millions of kids showed that being different isn’t something to hide—it’s something to celebrate. Her courage changed not just her life, but the lives of countless children who now believed in their own dreams.
And this was just the beginning.
